We had the good fortune of connecting with Candi Counts or Candiscupcakes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided I wanted to have a business I had already seen how happy just simple cupcakes can bring to other people, children and adults. I really loved knowing that I was able to contribute to that with something I was doing for fun at the time. I realized I was really interested in becoming official, so my husband and I started passing out samples and asking for feedback. We focused on which flavors everyone liked, welcomed any negative feedback so that we could really pick out everything that brought them the most happiness.

What should our readers know about your business?
As of today my business is in Colorado Springs but was relocated from our original home in Fort Worth, Texas. I’m working on doing more in this community and participating in pop up shops monthly and finding other ways of giving back to our new(-ish) community. I want to give cupcakes out to everyone but plan to start with our local departments that go above and beyond to keep us safe like Firefighter departments, hospitals, police departments etc. They do all they can out of the love of other people and saves lives everyday so I wanted to show them I care by bringing them some happiness with some freshly baked products from scratch.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have friends come by I love taking them to my favorite local spot for breakfast __. Then we would go to Garden of the Gods my husband and I love coming here the scenery here is always beautiful and if were really for another beautiful spot The Broadmoor Seven Falls and if we still have enough energy after that were going to Old Colorado Springs filled with tons of local shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people has helped me shine and mold me to the way I am now. My husband Chris and mama, dad among all my sisters and friends I now call family with a bond so close there always with me. My mama always taught me to be kind to one another the seeds you sow will continue to grow. I love and appreciate everyone that has touched my heart that told me to keep following my dreams that never wanted me to give up never stopped giving me encouragement, support, and love and thank them for everything. I can’t write all the names down but they definitely know who they are.
