We had the good fortune of connecting with Cara, Hailey McQueeney, Sardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cara, Hailey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our thought process behind Local Honey was creating a place that the women of Colorado Springs would have a place to come together so that we can encourage them and empower them to be completely their own. We noticed a need within Colorado Springs for a store like ours and so we set out to meet that need. We’ve been met with so much excitement in the past year, we’re so incredibly grateful that what we saw was incredibly needed.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Something that we’d claim we’re most proud of in the start of our careers and venture is the way that we have nestled ourselves into the community in a natural and connected way. When we’ve been able to do so safely, we’ve hosted events and brought women together to not only help encourage their own dreams, but to help form relationships and bonds to strengthen our community. We want the world to know that at the heart of local honey is community and inspiring each woman to be completely her own self.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we were showing some of our best pals around town, we’d hands down take them to Story Coffee Company for a cup of amazing coffee. We can’t get enough of their coffee or their hearts for the community. Since that lands us downtown Colorado Springs, we’d take a tour of the downtown art installations and stop by Kinship Landing, a new boutique hotel, for a quick lunch in their restaurant. We would take a short hike in Red Rocks Open Space and then have dinner at Mood Tapas Bar!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Local Honey would hardly exist without the support and opportunities we have had through the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs. They were immensely helpful in finding our storefront and supporting us through our first few months open.
