We had the good fortune of connecting with Carla D’Agostino-Vigil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carla, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The talented team at Ignite counseling Colorado aims to provide expert mental health services while increasing accessibility in our community.

What that has meant is offering services that align with a sliding scale program for those that are underinsured, being an in network provider for Medicaid recipients, and ensuring that we have flexibility in offering our services via telehealth as well as in person. We are in Westminster and have the ability to serve those in rural communities across the state, through telehealth.

We have advocated with insurance providers to be able to increase reimbursement, which has also positively impacted our counseling community. When we are afforded the opportunity for insurance reimbursement that reaches a livable wage, we are able to create a more sustainable practice, reducing provider burnout and increasing job satisfaction.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Ignite with a desire to give back to our community and help create accessibility for mental health care. I started with just myself, then grew the team with like-minded therapists; they wanted to be a part of something bigger than what any of us can just do on our own.

I grew to a group practice right before the COVID-19 pandemic lock down – great timing, I know! We had to pivot to telehealth services. We still had a lease obligation for office space and it was very important to me to take care of the team of therapists so they could be able to serve their clients. It was a challenging time, but also one of growth, ingenuity and collaboration.

I also launched a consulting practice, The Ignite Center for Mental Health Leadership, to provide support for colleagues that run group mental health practices. I have a ‘first career’ in business and we just don’t learn about running a practice in counseling graduate school. I find it so rewarding to help elevate my colleagues and blend my business and mental health industry knowledge!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado is filled with such beauty! There are no lack of things to do and see. I would certainly take my friend on some day trips to our mountain communities, including the Vail Valley where I grew up.

We would also go check out the four corners and Mesa Verde, enjoying some of the amazing cuisine in that area. I would take them to the Sand Dunes national monument for hiking and playing in the Medano Creek.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely say that the team of talented Therapist at Ignite get all of the kudos!

I am also a firm believer in camaraderie in the counseling community. There are many caring, smart, and motivated colleagues I have the honor of working alongside.
