Meet Carlee Henderson | Editor-in-Chief and Publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlee Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlee, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The zine’s authenticity still survives since we began five years ago. We strive to consistently challenge ourselves with strong editorials, artistically driven photography, layout design, diversity, sick merch, and not giving a bleep what people think!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
FLORA | | FAUNA is an underground zine publication in Denver that highlights local businesses, artists, musicians, and creatives with amazing and unique stories to tell. We pursue our content by going beyond the veil and getting the good stuff that would otherwise go unnoticed in other publications.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The zine’s entirety started because of the incredible Denver community. We owe Denver everything. It’s a city filled with unique, creative, and weird people who love to collaborate and share their wealth of knowledge, whether it be about business, marketing, art, design, music, the list goes on. Working with the women at Rule Gallery was a milestone collaboration, as was working with local wheatpaste artist Koko Bayer, Modern Nomad’s owner Becky Miller, TARRA and Annabel Media founder Kate Bailey, and the Denver Botanical Gardens. A huge shoutout goes to the small businesses who let us throw badass zine release parties and other events (PoN pOn, Fort Greene Bar, Middleman Bar, Hi-Dive) and the local bands who played to make each night that much more memorable. Finally, to the talented writers and photographers we’ve worked with in the past. They challenged themselves to see my vision then created pure -dark- magic.
