We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Parsons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caroline, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
My business, The Luminary Lion, has taught me the discipline of not comparing myself to others. Being an artist and a creative, it is so difficult not to look at others and compare yourself and think “they do X better than me” or “I wish I had that skill” or “I wish my marketing looked like that”. But I’ve learned that you can’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. My business has taught me to value the skill set and abilities God has given me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My business is called The Luminary Lion. The definition of Luminary is someone who inspires others/a natural light giving body. A Lion is a biblical symbol for God. The mission of my business it to be a light to others, sharing the good news of God’s unfailing love through my art. I hand paint and hand letter custom Bibles and journals. I also just started making stickers! I am most proud of my ability to persevere through trying times and push myself to learn new things. As an enneagram 3, it is often hard to try new things out of fear of failure, but my business has pushed me to overcome this fear. It has also shown me I am capable of so much more than I give myself credit for.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots to eat/grab a drink are Shells and Sauce, Sushi Hai, the Lowry Beer Garden, and though I am a little embarrassed to admit, I love the happy hour at the Aquarium. Nothing beats $5 margaritas next to a giant fish tank – LOL. Of course we would visit Breck and go skiing and explore the town. Maybe go to Evergreen and get the best burger EVER at Murphy’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m going to sound like I just won an Oscar, but. first and foremost, all glory be to God for any success I have in this world. All good things come from above. Second, my husband. For always supporting me, encouraging me, and being my number one fan. Lastly, my best friend, Alexandria Reed. For always pushing me to believe in myself. For making me see my potential. For dreaming with me. For always picking me up when I fall down.
