We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Cerreta-Kessie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carrie, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I’ve been counseling for 20 plus years but not in private practice for that long so could that be rewritten to. After 20 plus years counseling, I decided to shake things up! I knew I wanted and frankly needed a change. I also always knew I wanted to do something with animals! So I thought, how could I combine my experience and passion? I knew the amazing impacts animals have on humans but after time researching career paths, I wasn’t personally inspired. Then the whole picture came together! Create workplace puppy and kitten wellness breaks by teaming up with local rescues! Bam! I’ve combined my passion and love for animals with my experience with helping people. I love arriving at businesses with adoptable, rescue puppies or kittens and watching everyone’s immediate smiles and overall boost in energy and morale while their stress just disappears!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There’s no other service out there like ours! A puppy or kitten wellness visit creates team bonding, smiles, and laughter, boosts morale and energy, all while soothing away stress and reducing one’s blood pressure. The effects are immediate and long lasting with increased workplace morale, positive work relationships, and overall productivity. There were some big hurdles to get to where I am today! I had to get insurance for a never before insured concept and then get rescues to believe in me and let me take their rescue puppies on field trips! It was tough, took nearly a year overall but it all came full circle!! I look forward to see what my small business can accomplish!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
How fun! First we’d definitely take in a concert at Red Rocks because there is NO place better! Then we’d visit more then one hot spring and various breweries! But to be honest, we’d take in my daughter’s horse show and son’s ice hockey game, enjoy local restaurants, and catch up with margaritas!!

I’m not sure I would have jumped in without the encouragement and help from my husband, Aaron! He helped me create Paws 4 Productivity, heck he even came up with the name! His entrepreneurial spirit pushed me to go for it! He helped me foster litters of puppies and deliver the puppy wellness breaks in our family vehicle until I had my own van!
