We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Addason and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m an entrepreneur at heart! Always have been, I guess… I created a media production business in my early 20’s, then a screen-printing shop that grew over 10 years. I just have the personality type of being self employed. It’s certainly not easy, but at least in this regard, one is culpable for their own successes and failures. And I like that.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Running a screen-printing business with employees and interns taught me much about systems, and humans working within them. I wouldn’t change it for the world, but I have to admit working as a one or two person photography team (or acting on-set, or performing voice-over) is way simpler : p
I chose the path of low overhead this time around. After selling the screen printing business, I decided to pursue my creative endeavors. Addason Photo is the culmination of years of behind-the-camera experience, as well as understanding overhead. I’ve created a unique and profitable ‘Pop-Up Photo Booth’ experience that has huge potential. This, in conjunction with event and portrait photography, seems to be granting me much more lifestyle flexibility.
The pop-up model is pretty awesome. I bring a couple flashes, my laptop, and camera. I’ll take photos that shoot over to Lightroom. Pop a preset on it, render it out, and AirDrop it to the guest. Very fast. Businesses love it because the guests can instantly post and tag.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Dang! Denver and the surrounding areas are pretty stunning. Certainly we’d be stopping by Mile High Spirits for a drink and a show. Then Golden for some foothills. Then Estes Park to visit the famous Stanley Hotel, as well as the Rocky Mountain Nation Park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve always struggled to find my tribe. A rolling stone of sorts, gathering no moss. I feel as though the age of the lone wolf is over however, and allowing others to aid me in my endeavors is beneficial to all parties. Special shout outs to Marina Pirkle, Steven Kuzma, the Mile High Spirits crew, the Dunraven crew in Estes Park, and loads of others who know who they are.
