We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Skeen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, why did you pursue a creative career?
I take pleasure in assisting authors in reaching their objectives and establishing meaningful connections with their target audience. I enjoy reading, so being able to help Indie Authors reach their goals and watch them grow and become amazing has always brought me so much joy.

I want to one day write a novel of my own.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have worked at Bedside Reading now for 4 years as an Executive Book Curator. I find new authors to bring into our programs, where we place books by the bedsides in luxury hotels and the Hamptons.
I create graphics and reels for our social media pages. It has definitely had its challenges. It was all a learning process for me, as I am self taught! I am branching out to be able to create graphics and reels for independent authors on my own. I want to build an amazing brand for myself while being able to do the things I love. Reading is a passion of mine, you truly get to live a thousand lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to a Rockies game, then walk and explore downtown Denver. We’d have a lovely dinner at Sam’s No.3 in Denver.
I would take them for a drive up the Rocky Mountains so they could see the breathtaking views. I’d have to take my friend to Rosie’s Diner in Aurora, we discovered that cut little diner. It’s brings me back in time with the 70’s feel.
We would drive up to Black Hawk so they could see how beautiful the town is, after words we’d probably grab some lunch at Black Bear Diner here in Aurora.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been fortunate to receive unwavering support from my family, whose encouragement has played a pivotal role in my pursuit of engaging with authors, a passion of mine. Collaborating with emerging author Bailey Thomas has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to contribute through the creation of compelling graphics to promote her book and expand her audience. I am deeply grateful for the indispensable support of my husband, Mike Skeen, throughout this journey. Venturing beyond my comfort zone, I am beginning to specialize in crafting captivating graphics to assist authors in reaching their intended readers.
