Meet Casey Thompson | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am a born and raised Colorado native. From an early age I found value in the necessity for self-sufficiency. Because of this, I am a hard-worker who takes pride in what I am passionate about. I found my interest in photography while in school for media production; I continue to foster that interest and passion by continuously learning and letting my camera lens lead the way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Embracing that failure is a part of success. Being willing to learn and improve while accepting that not every shot will be the one. Photography is exciting because of the unknown and limitless possibilities. I’m never sure what my camera lens will be pointing at next. Although it started as a hobby, hard-work and a commitment to the craft has given me the opportunity and skillset to capture moments in time as well as memories. Whether a test shot becomes the perfect lunar photo or an in-between moment becomes the centerpiece of a wedding album, photography never disappoints.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
No visit to Colorado is complete without a trip to Beau Jo’s for the best pizza! Then a relaxing visit to the hot springs in Glenwood Springs would be the perfect way to wind down while admiring the mountain views. Within Denver, Dry Dock beats out the competition and is the perfect place to hang out and grab a beer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey has been full of faces and institutions that have shaped my understanding and driven my love of photography. Although many have impacted me in their own way, I would not be where I am today without grandma. She has always been a stable source of support and encouragement as I found my way to where I am today. I love you Omie!
