Meet Cassie And Felix | Creepy Crawling Beauties

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie And Felix and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie and Felix, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We have always loved the alternative community and noticed that it was hard to find things that were affordable. What started as a hobby for our own home decor quickly took off into a business. With the idea of keeping everything as affordable as possible we do our best to thrift what we can. What we can’t thrift we price in a way that does not benefit us a ton. Being able to get pieces of art to those that would not usually be able to afford it is so important. Growing up not being able to get things like this and seeing how excited and happy it makes others makes it all worth it!
In order to get the oddity world out to as many people as we can for a good price, we teach classes. The classes include hands on learning and all the materials to be able to go home and continue if someone wishes. A lot of the time we get asked why we would do this. Simply, it’s not about making money. We want everyone to experience the joy of the oddity world, even those that never thought they could.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We create artwork using real insects, bones, and anything else “creepy”. Our standards of quality and our affordability help us stand out in the oddity world. Whether a specimen is perfect or damaged it will be used and priced accordingly. We have something for everyone no matter the price range! Just because our pieces are affordable does not mean you are not getting something beautiful. We do everything in our power to keep from things going to waste. We have done countless hours of research to make sure everything we create is done ethically and sustainably.
We are not shy to say that we would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for our community and close friends. Without their support this would have just stayed a hobby. We are forever thankful to everyone.
We strive to make sure that our brand is seen as a safe space for EVERYONE.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Food: Somebody People in Denver
Visit: Estes Park (hiking, shopping, and of course the Stanley Hotel)
Colorado Springs for the May Natural History Museum and Garden of the Gods
Activities: Art Markets, art classes at The Artisan Shop and Studio in Loveland

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We never would have gotten started if wasn’t for Nate Cothern at the Skinned Lizard Tattoo Shop in Loveland.
And for the continuous support and encouragement we thank Kelly Borland and Lauren Thurman.
Thank you to everyone who has every supported us no matter how small.
