We had the good fortune of connecting with Charis Walgreen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
You always hear people say find a need and fill it. For my husband Jordan’s 40th birthday I was looking to splurge a little and have someone come to our home a walk us through a whiskey tasting. After much research I never found quite what I was looking for, so we threw the tasting party ourselves. We both have a passion for whiskey and love learning more about it, so it was very organic for us. It was a blast teaching our friends about whiskey. We felt like we had the beginning of a unique business idea.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our love for whiskey started back in 2012 after taking our first tour of a local whiskey distillery. We fell in love with the deep- rooted history of whiskey and the hard work and time that’s put into every barrel. We both believe in the importance of roots. Remembering where you came from and working hard everyday to make your mark. We admire the passion we know it takes to create something, and then wait so long to enjoy it. We hope that with every whiskey tasting experience we host we highlight this history and passion. We are excited to be doing something we enjoy so much. When you can turn a hobby into a business you are winning and that is how we feel about Whiskey Bliss. We are excited about all the doors it has already opened for us, for all the new people, and honestly if we could turn a few non-whiskey drinkers into whiskey drinkers that would just be the icing on the cake!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no doubt Whiskey Bliss would not be here without my family. They were all huge supporters of our idea. My dad and brother, Chad were masters in the redesign of our 1970s vintage horse trailer turned whiskey tasting bar. It was truly an all hands on deck venture. Everyone really stepped up to support and help wherever they could. We are so grateful to them all & it makes our Whiskey Wagon that much more special. It’s a true labor of love.
