Meet Charley Perry | Owner of Perry’s Plants

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charley Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
That’s a loaded question! Initially, my motivation stemmed from an “I’ll show you” mentality—definitely not the healthiest starting point, but it fueled my journey.
A few years ago, I found myself on a quest for self-discovery and passion. Fitness has always been a cornerstone of my life, so becoming a personal trainer felt like a natural fit. Before that, I was bouncing from job to job, desperately searching for happiness.
Everything changed during a personal training session with a friend. While we were chatting in the locker room, a stranger struck up a conversation and invited me for coffee to discuss a career opportunity with her plant company. At that moment, I was already cultivating a newfound love for gardening during the lockdown. Gardening became my sanctuary, allowing me to stay grounded in a time of chaos. I spent hours on Facebook Marketplace hunting for rare plants and even uprooting aspen trees from my mom’s backyard to expand my own garden!
When the opportunity to work with the plant company arose, I was intrigued. I joined their team and immersed myself in the world of plants for over a year and a half. Then, out of the blue, I was fired—blindsided and accused of something I didn’t do. After proving my innocence, I was asked to stay, but I needed time to process. Instead of waiting for me to process, they changed their minds again, so I took a bold leap.
Just four days later, I launched my own business. Fueled by that “I’ll show you” mentality, I quickly built a website, established vendor accounts, and applied for my sales tax license. Within those few short days, I transformed a setback into an exciting new venture, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the path I’m on now.

What should our readers know about your business?

Whether it’s a beautifully curated planter or a breathtaking event, we strive to exceed expectations every step of the way.
The journey to establishing Perry’s Plants has been a challenging yet fulfilling one. After unexpectedly losing my previous job, I faced a pivotal moment: I could let this setback define me or seize the opportunity to create something new. I chose the latter. Within just four days, I launched my business, but the challenges didn’t stop there.
From navigating the intricacies of plant care to mastering event planning and marketing, I had to learn quickly. There were moments of doubt, but my passion for plants and design kept me motivated. I sought guidance from mentors, connected with fellow entrepreneurs, and embraced every learning opportunity. Each challenge reinforced the importance of adaptability and community support.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the value of perseverance. Success requires dedication, patience, and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances. I’ve also realized the significance of authenticity—staying true to my vision and values has helped me cultivate a brand that resonates with clients.
I want the world to know that Perry’s Plants is rooted in passion and a desire to enhance lives through the beauty of greenery. Every planter we create and every event we design is a testament to our commitment to excellence and creativity. My story is one of transformation—from a personal setback to a thriving business that connects people and beautifies spaces. I believe in the power of plants to inspire and uplift, and I hope to share that message with everyone who encounters our brand.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom- She has been nothing short of supportive! She has given business advice, financial help, and has given unconditional support and love, even when I think i know best… when i don’t.
My Besties- Bree Mayo and Kayla Durston. I have known these 2 women for 17 years. They know who I am to the core. When I have been at my lowest point, they both have pulled me up, given words of encouragement, and have taken action when I needed help most. Never have they shied away from the wild adventures I have dragged them on! They both have always told me that I was going to create something great and now…. I have!
Jaime Brown- This woman. She helped me see a whole new way of living. From healthy eating to surrounding myself with smarter, healthier, and more intentional people! I have started a health and wellness business with Arbonne and have become a wedding planner with Privé in addition to owning and operating Perry’s Plants!
Thank you all for being my biggest fans. You all mean so much to me. I truly couldn’t have done it without them
