We had the good fortune of connecting with Chrissy & Hannah Howell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chrissy & Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I think the main reason was one that a lot of us shared when the COVID shutdowns happened, we all started pursuing what brought us joy when we were confided to our space. After the first year of the shutdowns my mom, and business partner, decided to retire from teaching. She started to crochet full time. We always had people asking us to sell our stuff but always took it as a nice compliment, never a reality, until last February. I walked into a shop in downtown Golden and asked if they ever sold local art, to my surprise, they were about to have a pop-up event and asked us to be apart of it. From there, we didn’t stop!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think one thing that sets us apart from some is that we are always up to create new things. Want a hat we’ve never made before? Send us a reference picture and we’ll give it a go. A new pattern, check. Want a stuffed animal, right away. Trying new things and creating custom work for people is definitely one of the most exciting parts about what we do. Seeing the finished outcome of something that was once just a ball of yarn, is rewarding, and the only thing that’s more rewarding than that, is to see the new owners of these items enjoy them even more than we do. It’s right there is our name, we LOVE what we do and we put that love into every single item that we make.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Immediately we are going to dinner at Somebody People in Denver. Health conscious, plant based, DELICIOUS food in a gorgeous environment with some of the nicest owners and waiters you’ll come across. If you’re a fan of sports but don’t want to spend your whole paycheck on a ticket, our next stop is a Rockies game at Coors Field. The environment is always a fun time no matter the outcome of the game. If you want the outdoor, mountain feel without driving over an hour outside of the city, to Golden we go. Take a walk through Downtown Golden, grab a bite and some coffee at Humble House and peruse their local vendors they have showcased. After that, head into the outdoors for a hike, you really can’t go wrong with any of them, but Mount Galbraith trail is never a bad idea. And to feel like a true Coloradan, you have to finish your day with a beer or two… or three, although it’s busy on the weekends, New Terrain Brewing Co. has some great options and a killer flight arrangement, if you can’t choose just one. But if you’re gluten free, don’t fret, just head over to Holidaily Brewing Company, an entire menu of gluten free beer for your choosing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The very first store I walked into at the beginning of 2022 was a shop called Little Piece of my Heart in downtown Golden. The lovely human working there was named Bailey Ruth. I asked if they ever sold local artists work and she said they did and she actually sold her jewelry there too! Lucky for us, later that month she was a hosting an event to feature many local artists and we were invited. After that night, we made great connections with some amazing other vendors and started to expand our opportunities when it came to markets. Now, we’ve vended at Nurture in Denver, huge craft fairs and even Denver Fashion Week, thanks to our wonderful friends form Resourceful Threads.
