We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Alonzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For me the most important factor is two fold. Consistency and tenacity.
Staying consistent In everything that you do and having the tenacity to see it through. Its not always easy, and more often than not you may have to change course or restructure along the way, but it will pay off in the end.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I spent over 25 years of my career working and advocating for people from indigenous communities, communities of color and disadvantaged communities. Fighting for workers rights and rights for all people in general. Recently, in 2020 to be honest I decided that as much as I fought for other people I now wanted to fight for my dreams. I’ve always loved music and always dreamed of having a place where people could go and listen to live music, especially “The Blues”was a plus. I also loved tequila and the history of the spirit itself. I wanted to educate people that tequila was about more than tequila shots, that there was a craftsmanship about the way that tequila was made that it was a generational family business and tradition and historically spans for hundreds of years. Bringing the two together was the icing on the cake. It has definitely not been easy and recently I had to shift my concept some, but I think in the end it’s definitely going to be well worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m somewhat of an introvert however, because I love music so much I would look for different venues, hole in the wall bars that showcased local talent and live music. Tequila bars for sure and some local taco restaurants and food trucks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My kids. They deserve credit for my setting my sights on goals and accomplishments, and never allowing me to quit or take no for an answer.
