We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Poppleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is natural light photography studio and small event space. It’s a mouth full for sure! Basically it’s a really pretty spot for people to rent out to do creative things in. And if people aren’t creative, but like the idea of that, they can hire me to do that for them. I am able to plan, decorate, and host their small events if they want me. My business if fairly new. We’ve been open for a year and a half. The creative part comes easy for me. It’s the business side that has been more difficulty for me to navigate. I’ve had to learn to negotiate a lease, stand up for myself when being taken advantage of and being ok with having to say no to certain projects. It’s in my nature to say yes to everything and every project regardless of if the project was a good fit to not. So learning that it is ok to trust my gut and that my business can still thrive without committing to every single opportunity has been my most beneficial thing learned thus far.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since me and my best friends are parents to teens and tweens, we will be heading straight to the Four Season Denver for all of the spa treatments. Brunch on the patio at the original pancake house in the tech center is a must and my absolute favorite breakfast spots. We would have to head up to Beaver Creek for a night or two and stay at the Ritz Bachelor Gulch. Lunch and drinks poolside is my happy place! Obviously we would hike while up there, but if you can sense a theme we like to be pampered as well.
Back in Denver we would have to head to Howl at the Moon, one of my favorite spots for a night out. And we would finish the trip with a Bronco game. As a Denver native and hard core Bronco fan, we would tail gate, sit in the south stands and scream until our throats hurt and voices are gone. Go Broncos!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband who always comes along for the ride when I tell him “I have an idea”. He has believed in me and this business venture even when I didn’t My incredibly supportive family and besties who really gave me the courage to go for it. And lastly my girls. They have really been so incredibly supportive and understanding. They are there helping me sweep, paint sets, move furniture, or model whenever I need them to be.
