We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Mambach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
If you take a look at my messy desk, it may not look like it, but I’m actually pretty organized. There is no way to run the “business end” of a creative business without being organized. I like to think prioritizing tasks is a strength of mine as well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think that like most artists, my art is always evolving as I evolve as a person. Right now, I feel like I’m at a place where everything kind of feels like it’s intersecting. Becoming a parent has influenced my perspective on my art, my life, my values, and my priorities. It’s also helped me pinpoint how I want my business to help the world. I’ve always said, “There are so many ugly things happening in the world, and I want to add more beauty.” At first, I was painting rocks and literally putting beauty into the world. Now, it’s evolved into donating a percentage of my profits to the Anti-Defamation League which battles antisemitism and hate.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I haven’t seen my best friend in over 4 years, and she actually is coming to visit this summer! I live in New Jersey near the beach so we would definitely start there for the day! There are so many great beaches here. We have Bay Head, Spring Lake, Belmar, and Point Pleasant just to name a few. We’d try to catch a concert outdoors at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in the evening. Breakfast the next day would be at Manna Bagel Cafe in Brick. The owner is from Costa Rica so in addition to bagels, they have amazing gallo pinto which is a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. If it was rainy day, maybe we would visit Jenkinson’s Aquarium or Insectropolis. I need to work in some kid friendly activities so my four year old could tag along! For lunch, we’d probably pick up some sandwiches or salads from Colonial Market in Point Pleasant Borough. I think we would definitely need to go to Jose’s in Sea Girt for dinner. They have great Mexican food! We might also visit With Intentions in Belmar during the visit. I have three pieces on display there this summer, and I’d definitely want her to see those.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family! The family that raised me and the family that I am raising. I am so lucky that I have had nothing but support in every endeavor I’ve ever undertaken.
