We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Voreadis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Go Fish Food Truck was started because we saw a need for fast, delicious seafood in Colorado Springs. Kevin Hill, my business partner, had 20 years of restaurant experience & I was an elementary school teacher so we decided to utilize our opposite skills sets and thus, Go Fish was born. We were also both born & raised in Colorado Springs and wanted to provide our community with a new & different mobile cuisine option.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets Go Fish apart from other food trucks in our community is our consistency, reliability, and unique cuisine. We strive to build relationships with not only our customers but also our partner businesses (breweries, corporate locations, schools, etc.) and we truly love the community that we serve in. We are most proud of the food that we serve, the loyal following that we’ve created, & the opportunity to give back to others in our community.
The road to where we are now has been filled with many hours of perfecting our food, relationship building, finding the best locations, & staying on top of truck maintenance and cleaning. There have been many, many 18+ hour days as we built our business but it’s ours, and that makes it all worth it!
As the entire world can attest, the pandemic was a huge challenge. After the initial fear of what would happen to our business, we put our heads down and went to work; setting up in neighborhoods during lockdown and feeding our community. We feel incredibly lucky that not only did we survive the pandemic but we thrived, thanks in part to our ability to pivot, the dedication of our followers, & the community rallying around small businesses.
We want the world to know that Go Fish Food Truck is here to not only make a delicious meal for you but to share a seat at our table. We believe that food brings people together and we love that we get to be a part of that!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being that Colorado Springs is my home town, showing an out of towner around is right up my alley! There are so many beautiful areas in the Springs that all out-of-towners must see! Garden of the Gods is a must as well as making the drive to the top of our closest fourteener, Pikes Peak. Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, & Downtown Colorado Springs provide many opportunities for taking in the city by foot while stopping in to unique shops, boutiques, bars, & restaurants. The Olympic Museum recently opened and is definitely worth checking out as well as the beautiful Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Breweries are a must visit in the Springs and many pair with some of the best food trucks in town to offer delicious eats and awesome brews in one place. Goat Patch Brewing, Pikes Peak Brewing, & Red Leg Brewing are the must stop spots. I have so many favorite restaurants but my go to is always Paravicini’s in Old Colorado City which serves delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. My favorite bar stop is Cork & Cask which is a wine & whiskey bar located in Downtown Colorado Springs.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We wouldn’t be where we are without the support of our customers! We have created an immensely loyal following and are incredibly grateful to all of our customers. There would also be no Go Fish without the love & support of our families! In addition, the Colorado Springs food truck community as been very helpful to our success. Working together, we were able to bring food trucks together & introduce the community to food truck rallies which brought a variety of different cuisines to one location (and often a location that lacked food options).
