We had the good fortune of connecting with Taryn Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taryn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I feel I have always been drawn to the idea of being my own boss, creating something out of nothing and feeling that great sense of purpose. I am the daughter of two successful entrepreneurs, seeing them create their own product and now 25 years later still growing success is motivating. When it came to starting Bowtyque, I was thinking of creating something I already loved, but to share with the world! A company I had been purchasing my own bow scrunchies from stopped selling them. So simply thought of what I would change and got creating. When making my bows, all I could think about was the feeling of confidence. I want to help everyday women feel like they are stepping into the best of version of themselves. We do that with a lot of confidence, a bit of sass and a whole lot of heart.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being an entrepreneur is always a challenge. You are paving your own way and there is no fast fix to anything. Working for yourself requires showing up as the best of you everyday and thinking of the future you want to have, rather than where you are today. I call this next level thinking. Staying one step ahead, thinking of the future and consulting with other entrepreneurs helps me. Overcoming challenges is non stop but you really gain a sense of confidence with each obstacle. When you buy from a small business we literally dance with each new client. Bowtyque believes in helping the fellow busy boss lady feel confident in any walk of life. We all wear many hats in a day, or in this case, bows in a day. Chauffeur, cook, teacher, athlete, lawyer, photographer. Step into each role with your bow held high and with the confidence of success. Whether you are working in corporate America with long work days, or a mom at home juggling lessons of kindness, we hope that you wear your bow proud in the roles you take on. Each day you wear a bow, you actively choose a life of next level greatness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am all about showing off the great outdoors of Denver! Things like the Denver Zoo, Aquarium, Children’s Museum are easy family fun options. Again supporting small, booking a friends photoshoot with Tyler B Photography is a frequent thing for us. Red Rocks, Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods are some of my go to spots for scenery and hiking. Los Dos Potrillos is a favorite restaurant with big menu and many locations. The Speak Easy for drinks in Golden, CO along with walking the shops and river with an ice cream is an easy way to fill an afternoon. We have so bits of paradise here and it is about driving around to see the many things to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother is a large part of my success. She is the person who really helps me create and expand in this business. Bowtyque would not be here without her.
