Hi Christy, what matters most to you?
The value that matters most to me, and directly correlates with my business, is spending time together as a family. Fortunately and unfortunately, this year has forced the issue for many of us between quarantine, offices going remote and online learning. It is tough adding so many stresses inside the home so spending time together outside is our main focus. Simply taking a walk together or a trip to the playground bring joy to your little ones and a breath of fresh air for you. My hope is that the information we provide through Slides and Sunshine gives the resources to help you enjoy that time together.

What should our readers know about your business?
Slides and Sunshine is a free resource for parents, grandparents and caregivers that provides opportunities for children to find joy outside and promote imagination in physical play. By sharing the best playgrounds and kid activities in Colorado, families are having fun playing together and children are stepping away from the screen and becoming more active. It has been tough creating something from scratch, however I hear from parents all of the time about how helpful our website has been and it keeps me going. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting, I’d take them to the places I know best…the playgrounds! I continue to be amazed at how many incredible places there are to take kids (for FREE!) that no one knows about. In Northern Colorado, I would take them to Twin Silo park in Fort Collins (it’s huge!) or Aven’s Village in Greeley (fully inclusive playground). In the Denver area, you can’t go wrong with Paco Sanchez park with its signature vintage microphone that kids can play inside. Finally, if you’re going farther south, our favorite stops are Clement Park in Littleton and Deputy Parrish Park in Castle Rock. We love helping people find the perfect place to play, so don’t hesitate to ask for suggestions. In this current situation, there is no better place to go than the Colorado outdoors!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family deserves so much credit in the creation of Slides and Sunshine. After years of our family park tour and many friends commenting that I should do something to share the information, it was my husband Jeff’s encouragement that ultimately led to the decision. Hours of time have been spent learning how to create a website, promote via digital marketing, etc and he helped every step of the way. My daughters are amazing, never complaining about going somewhere for me to review, and always having a smile for the pictures I need. Finally, I am extremely grateful for my other family members, friends and neighbors for continuing to support me along this journey.
