Meet Sunny Ashrafian | Independent Dental Hygienist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunny Ashrafian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sunny, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve been a hygienist for about five years now. In that time I have always worked for a dentist and I have seen so many patients mistreated and unfortunately my opinions on treatment of patients did not matter. I wanted to create a safe space for patients to take care of their oral health without feeling the pressure and judgement that is usually associated with traditional dental offices.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My office is not your traditional dental office. I am an independent hygienist which means there is no dentist in my office. I see patients for exams, xrays, cleanings and laser teeth whitening and refer to a dentist if I am worried about a tooth or multiple teeth. This set-up is awesome for anyone who has dental anxiety, wants a no-judgement experience and wants an overall relaxing appointment! I do everything for the business myself, from advertising to answering the phone. When a patient is scheduling an appointment, they are dealing with me first hand! I love connecting with my patients and giving them personalized one of a kind treatment!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE hiking! I am originally from California and I joke that I have become a full-blown mountain girl. Although most hiking involves leaving the city, I love taking visitors to Sloan’s Lake and up to Jefferson Open Space!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Adam. He has been my biggest supporter from day one and always believes in me and my dreams.
