We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy/Amanda Harrison/DeNeice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cindy/Amanda, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
We don’t really – but if we quit, we quit the wild horses, and they have already been failed by so many. Our hope is to always keep the promises we make so we persevere even when things get really difficult.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well both Amanda and I work full time jobs as well as manage our nonprofit.
As photographers we both fell in love with the horses we took pictures of. Almost like an obsession, as our souls filled with peace and happiness with each capture. When we heard of the round ups happening in the Sand Wash HMA we immediately knew we had to do something.
We decided to use our photography ad a platform. The platform being, sell our images for the good of our group by saving wild horses.
See, these horses have given us so much. They deserve all that back and more.
We still face many challenges. Daily. And we overcome them by staying focused on solutions, and putting one foot in front of the other.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Old town ft Collins is fun to walk – and Estes Park for the taffy and great food at You Need Pie.
As a nature lover I would always suggest Rocky National Park, and or a drive into Poudre Canyon looks for moose or any wildlife.
Get on a hiking trail, go into the woods and discover life again by disconnecting from the world for awhile.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My granddaughter, Gabby Morales. She was the reason I started to go see the horses, it was because of her that we found love and hope in Sand Wash Basin. She is also the one who helped with the naming of our organization.
