We had the good fortune of connecting with Claire Quintero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claire, how do you think about risk?
I would rather live with the consequences of a failed risk than the regret of not trying. The biggest risk I have taken lately was moving my family to Costa Rica. We sold everything, and started over. It was a ´failure´ in the sense that we decided the lifestyle was not what we wanted and moved back but the experiences, self growth and time with family I gained will be something I get to keep forever. It inspired me to come back and start my own massage business with a clear mind of my priorities and a fresh perspective on how to help my clients.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have been a practicing massage therapist for 7 years and recently took the step of opening my own studio, Claire´s Corrective Massage. I am now 100% self employed. In my practice, I strive to know each of my client´s personally so I can customize each massage for maximum benefit. Our healthcare system is becoming more automated and less personalized, one of the most common concerns I hear from people is that their healthcare provider does not listen to what they are saying. Taking the time to listen, and validate their experience has become very important in the care of my clients. I love giving people a chance to be heard and become actively involved in their recovery from injury or chronic pain. Empowering people to move better and have less pain is so gratifying! Massage is something that I am good at and love doing, marketing and business management is not my strong suit. Taking time to learn business skills and ask for help has been a struggle but I am slowly adding these skills to my tool bag and seeing it pay off!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Northern Colorado has so many great open spaces, small businesses and restaurants. You can not miss the iconic hike up to Horsetooth mountain, from the top you get a great view of the resevoir and the entire city! To fuel up for the steep climb, I would stop at The Bread Chic in downtown Fort Collins for the best baked goods and to get one of her stacked sandwhiches to go to eat at the top! In the summer, stop at the lake on the way home for a refreshing dip! If you are hiking you probably have a dog so you will want to hit up Wagz in downtown Fort Collins to get some fun treats and toys that are ethically sourced. Stop for an afternoon snack and glass of wine at The Welsh Rabbit. For kids or serious bikers, you can not miss the bike park in Berthoud! It has jumps and tracks for all levels of bikers in a sprawling laid back environment. Get a refreshing, well priced dinner at Jaw´s sushi. Ready for some laughs, catch open mic comedy night at the Colorado room or get tickets to a show at the comedy club!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has been my biggest supporter cheering me on and reminding me I can do whatever I put my mind to, no matter how crazy it sounds. He has been by my side fixing fences and delivering baby goats when we had a farm and stuck by my career shift towards massage. He gives me the courage to take the risks and live fully!
