Meet Coach Quiggy

We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Quiggy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach Quiggy, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think the concept of work-life balance, as most of us interpret it, is bass-ackwards. In essence, we learn that work and life are separate. That we need to find a balance between the two to be well. And it makes sense that most people relate to work in this way, because for many out there, work is simply a means to an end. And I think that creates a lot of unhappiness, when we aren’t breathing life into our work, or just trying to get through the work day.
And I think thats why entrepreneurship is so enticing. Because it integrates work and life in a meaningful and inherently balanced way. Its not that I’m on 24/7 and never take any time off (but this is definitely harder to do when you are running your own business and requires a lot of mindfulness to find that healthy balance). But I really try to follow a path in my work that is intrinsically motivating and naturally sustainable. There are many hard things to do and things I don’t want to do that I have to be disciplined to accomplish, but in general I make choices in my business that light me up, bring me joy and are energizing. That way, my work is an integrated part of my life. If I’m [mostly] feeling alive, excited and grateful while working, I’m in balance.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a Self-Leadership Coach and Mindfulness Teacher! I offer 1:1 and group coaching to those who want to lead lovingly and powerfully from within, and primarily work in service of Young Leaders who want to make a difference in the world. I also run workshops, meditation classes, retreats and intentional dance experiences!
All of my work brings play, depth, integrity, mindfulness and authenticity into the experience of personal growth and healing. My coaching centers around the mindfulness practice that has afforded me the awareness to grow into the human I am today. I believe FERVENTLY in the power of these practices to shape a better future for the world – one that is collaborative, rather than competitive. Where we get to thrive, rather than just survive. On the individual level, and in our collective experience.
As a coach, I’m versatile. I can and do support people in many, many arenas (though I know the limits of my expertise and will refer out when I’m not the best coach for someone) because of the depth of self-learning and healing I’ve done myself – pulling from ample disciplines and integrating them into best practices to support people where they are at. As a coach, I’m like an all-purpose cleaner, you can apply me to just about anything.
But the work almost always boils down to self-love, and the various manifestations of that, whether it be discipline and routines, understanding themselves/their wants/needs, shifting limiting beliefs and creating corrective experiences, building self-trust as we work towards our goals, effective leadership/communication etc. I always say, and teach my clients that, “self-compassion is the secret sauce!” I help my clients establish a mindset that is compassionate, grateful, courageous, growth-oriented, humble, authentic, purposeful and of service – and equip them with the tools to apply their best to anything and everything they want to accomplish, or feel, in their lives!
I use a variety of techniques in my community offerings. Of course meditation is integral, as are the tools and techniques I use in my coaching work, but I also pull on my Summer Camp experience to bring improv games and team-building aspects into my workshops and retreats to foster connection and humor. I’m also a DJ (I do weddings and proms on the side) – and music has and always will be an essential part of my growth and healing – so I also run an ecstatic dance series dubbed Quiggstatic Dance – a silly, sober empowering, mindfulness and improv-infused dance party!
And I’m most proud of how I embody what I teach, practice what I preach, and show up not just as a loving and powerful teacher, but also as the authentic human being that I am! It’s definitely not an easy path and there have been many an up and down. Ultimately, I’m grateful for the early-on-installed growth mindset that allows me to meet challenges and failure with the ability to learn and adapt.
Growing a business is inherently a personal growth and healing story. Especially running a personal brand. Because everything that’s running in the back and foreground of your personal operating system is showing up in your business. If you are anxious and insecure, that’ll show itself. If you doubt your decision making, that’ll show itself. If you think money is icky, that’ll show itself. Its this constant work-in-progress attitude that makes it so challenging, but also so rewarding. The lovely thing is that I’m offering this personal work to others, so doing it myself is a win-win to grow a more beautiful business, and also to be able to guide my clients and communities with more lived experience and expansive expertise.
The biggest challenge, and I alluded to this in my shoutout, has been my own struggles with physical, mental and emotional health. But upon realizing the inseparability of my health and my mission, I’ve given myself radical permission to prioritize my well-being over everything else. Because I know that the stronger, healthier and more at peace I am, the greater care and compassion I can bring to others. It’s my core message to my coaching clients, Young Leaders who have gifts they are ready to give and purpose they are ready to enact, but need to do the inner work in order to fully express that to the world. I’m living it myself and it allows me to show up really human and embodied in my work with others.
Ultimately, we are story tellers. And we get to write our own stories. Integrating my personal story with the mission behind my work gives me a sense of purpose that keeps me moving forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver to me has four incredible attributes that make it home: ample sunshine, the mountains, the best music scene in the country, and incredible conscientious communities. We’d be sure to hit all four of these.
We’d definitely be spending some time in the mountains, checking out a Red Rocks show or the awesome authenticity-driven nightclub Beacon in RiNo, and hanging with the Vibrate Your Best Energy (VYBE) crew!
I really cherish 1-1 time with my people, so quality time connecting, getting to know each other on a deeper level, being silly, cracking jokes and laughing at the ridiculousness of life, maybe getting co-creative, is a huge part of what makes hosting homies so wonderful for me!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow, no way I can pinpoint a single influence. I’m a very fortunate result of SO many beautiful people, teachers, experiences, etc. over the years. We all are. But right now I’m particularly grateful for my Tantra Kundalini/Core Medicine Coach Diego (aka Devotion). I’ve suffered from chronic injuries and pain for the past 5 years and have been on a really challenging healing journey to get my body and nervous system back to a healthier baseline. Its been the lowest common denominator in the success in my business (and really in all areas of my life) and working with him has helped me find more ease, comfort, focus and energy I can apply to all of it.
