We had the good fortune of connecting with Creighton Evans of Rosebay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Creighton, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s a passion for us. The energy we put in our music is reflective of the devotion we have towards expressing ourselves authentically. Music is more then a hobby for all of us. We all have a history or capability of being solo musicians, so to bring together so much fervor and excitement for music in one band is an incredible thing. We know what we have is distinctively unique and the exact aesthetic that we’d look for ourselves when listening to a band. The joy it brings all of us to do what we do perfectly envelopes the vibe we hope to give during our performances and upcoming releases.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We’re an extremely diverse band influentially, characteristically, and even racially. We all come from different backgrounds and have different techniques when it comes to how we approach music. The blend of all of our cultures, influences, and aspirations makes our sound standout and push the boundaries of genre. We don’t want to sound like anyone else but Rosebay. We want our music and “brand” to stand alone and be something that represents the individuality, passion, and talent of each member. We’ve learned the more we believe in ourselves as well as manifesting and radiating positivity, the more our style and skill develops. This inspires us to continue making new material and has lead us to a plethora of show invitations, social media engagement, and overall continuous growth and success. Considering our first show was just in October of 2022, we see ourselves on a very clear path towards achieving our goals and making our dreams happen off the early momentum we have already gained thanks to the extremely supportive and growing local music scene.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re based in Northern Colorado so most of our favorite spots are located in Fort Collins, although we look forward to finding new favorites in Denver and all over the world as we expand our range of play! One of our all time favorite spots is The Atrium At They Alley Cat in Fort Collins. It’s one of the best places to perform and hang out in. Their selection of beer and sake is great and the whole place is covered in plants and dope art. Hunter who runs things there is awesome and one of our favorite people to work with. We also love The Coast and The Aggie and everything put on by HearHere Concerts. One of our other favorite places to perform is also our favorite spot to catch a movie! The Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins is one of the coolest venues/theaters you’ll ever visit and our good friend Maddy Eskrine does a great job booking local bands and setting up everything and anything needed for a show. If it’s a nice day nothing beats heading up highway 14 into the Poudre Canyon to hike Grey Rock mountain or camp in Pingree Forest. The Mishawaka Amphitheater is also up that way and though we haven’t played it yet we’re hoping to get something set up there as soon as we can because it’s such a beautiful venue and space.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’ve had so many incredible people behind us from our inception and we can’t express our gratitude enough towards all of them. So many of them are fellow musicians that encouraged us to play together and offered us shows to get our name in rotation. The music community in Colorado is extremely welcoming and wickedly talented. It’s an honor to share a stage with so many amazing artists and to be performing for audiences filled with some of the best people. The reception we’ve gotten thus far has been overwhelmingly positive and we can’t be thankful enough for it.
