Meet Crystal Brown | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Throughout my 3 year career as a photographer I have been blessed to be able to photograph some amazing places and people. I absolutely love meeting my clients and discussing their ideas. My favorite part of photography is taking my clients ideas and making them into reality. I enjoy the challenge of making something seemingly impossible happen. The road has not been easy and I am still in the midst of making a name for myself. I have had some requests that were not able to completely be fulfilled (due to danger and weather) but that is what makes life interesting. I have definitely learned to roll with the punches and the inevitable chaos that comes with life events. I am most excited about a podcast I am working on about our wonderful town of Pueblo. I will be using my podcasts episodes as inspiration for a book I am also working on about our town. It will be a podcast and a book for everyone. There will be historical facts, what’s new, and even some paranormal stories. I can’t wait to get my podcast and book going so people can learn and have fun. I plan on expanding to other parts of CO as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are definitely a lot of things to do in Pueblo. It is a place for all ages. If you have kids we have the zoo, El Pueblo History Museum, the Ice Arena, Skate City, Sangre De Cristo Arts Center, Buell Children’s Museum, and so much more. If you are an outdoors person we have Lake Pueblo and the Nature Center that have great trails to walk and bike. We also have many wonderful local restaurants such as The Sacred Bean, Shamrock Brewing Company, Walter’s Brewery, Magpie’s, Gold Dust, Papa Jose’s, as well as many local bakeries – Hopscotch, Bite Me, Schusters, and Seven Branches. In the summer do make sure to check out our local farms and the many festivals we put on. Union Avenue is where you will find a lot of great shops as well as our arts district. There are so many other places worth mentioning (thus the reason I am writing a book) but I’m sure we don’t have enough room to list them all here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, Tom, for sure. He has supported my dreams and visions. He has been my biggest cheerleader and my biggest fan. If it wasn’t for him my company would not exist. I also have to shoutout Rosemount Museum, especially Deb Darrow (director). They have supported me throughout my college years and were one of the first to hire me as their photographer.
