We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Ord and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Creativity is such a deep part of being human! It will be one of the last things to be automated away. So why did I choose it? I just love the way it makes my brain feel to ideate and create.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think of myself as a sort of “accidental marketer”. It started with a passion for the travel/tourism industry and a struggle to find the best way I could contribute to it. My strongest skill within marketing is writing, so that’s what got me through the door. It’s been a fun challenge to learn the broader marketing ecosystem and how to strategize within it. It’s really the kind of work that demands both emotive creativity and rational analysis. And humor sprinkled on top, always.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a Denver native, so I’ve been lucky enough to have explored so much of the Mile High City. With visiting guests, I always hope they like bicycles. If so, I take them on a casual bike ride through Denver’s most iconic parks — City Park, Cheesman Park, and Washington Park. This allows us to wind our way through some of Denver’s distinctive neighborhoods. For those who just don’t agree with bike seats (hey, they’re not for everyone!), a short drive to a scenic nearby area is always fun. Red Rocks is an obvious go-to, or the Royal Arch trail just outside Boulder. For good food and nightlife, I know my way around RiNo the best. It’s just a short Uber, Lyft, or scooter ride from where I live.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to YellowDog for demanding creativity from everyone on our team. I’m so happy to have found a “home” for my creative energy and a “family” to share it with!
