We had the good fortune of connecting with Dakota Bogner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dakota, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from really small, rural, agricultural community in northeastern Colorado where my family runs a six-generation farm. Growing up on a farm taught me so much about the importance of work ethic, loving what you do, entrepreneurship, and building a really positive reputation. Those are things that I’ve held onto and truly couldn’t have started my own business with any confidence otherwise. My upbringing also taught me that you don’t have to just do one thing with your life. Growing up my family members all had dreams of their own, outside of agriculture and the family business, and they all went after those dreams. My dad spent many years running the local volunteer fire department, my brother coached high school basketball, and my mom got her Ph.D. – all while operating a massive farming operation. They taught me that you can be passionate about more than one thing, be gifted in more than one area, and pursue more than one dream. I’ve always had to keep an additional job while starting and running Premier Events, in order to keep financially stable. But because of what my upbringing taught me, I’ve never settled for a job that just helps pay the bills. I’ve been able to find other things to be passionate about, that support me and help me grow while I’m also supporting and growing my business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Premier Events is a wedding planning company based out of Fort Collins, Colorado. We offer everything from full-service planning, custom event design, day-of coordination, and everything in-between. We’re passionate about life’s big moments, and want to help clients celebrate those moments with small, personal details and a stress-free day. What sets us apart from others is also what I’m most proud of — we really strive to go above and beyond for our clients. We really want our brides and grooms to have relaxing, memorable, and FUN weddings, without having to worry about any of the details coming together. We know how much work, time, and money it takes to plan a wedding, and the last thing we want our clients worrying about on their big day is whether or not their vision is going to come together, and whether or not everything is going to run smoothly. We work really hard, and are very passionate about what we do. It’s that hard work and passion that got us where we are today. Giving 150 percent time and again built a really great reputation for us that our clients go and tell their friends about, and word of mouth has been our biggest marketing tool to date. Of course, it hasn’t been easy. It’s come with many challenges, and I’ve wanted to give up many times, but it’s been more than worth it. Remembering why I started in the first place really keeps me going. I’ll be feeling down or frustrated, but then I’ll see my clients’ first look, first dance, and celebrating with friends and family, and I’m immediately reminded why I do this, and it’s so rewarding. All I want the world to know about me, and about Premier Events, is that I truly love what I do, and nothing makes me happier than help my brides and grooms bring their vision to life, and start and celebrate their new journey in the most perfect way possible, and I will work extremely hard to make that happen.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In addition to my gratefulness for my family and my upbringing that I talk about in my shoutout, I absolutely have to give a major thanks to my right-hand woman, Katie James. When I first started Premier Events, I was terrified and unsure, and just needed someone by my side. It’s also impossible to successfully execute the day-of component of a wedding all alone. Katie jumped in an helped me, no questions asked, from day one. And now, five years later, she’s my wedding-planning-partner-in-crime through and through. Each wedding we do I’m more and more impressed with how her knowledge and confidence has grown, and her passion for the work… and her ability to read my mind doesn’t hurt either.
