We had the good fortune of connecting with Dalma Dibuz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dalma, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I created VibeIt to offer a safe space for artists to collaborate and express themselves freely. As a therapist and photographer, I heavily value to importance of fostering safe spaces for individuals to feel comfortable and confident in themselves. The creative space can be intimidating and overwhelming, and I wanted to make sure to provide a platform that makes all artists feel seen, heard, and respected. I began my photographer career lacking confidence in sharing my work as there were far more experienced photographers around me. Through VibeIt, I discovered the benefit in collaborating and sharing ideas with others, to help learn and grow without feelings of judgement or comparison. I found that if I was surrounding myself with other brilliant, artistic minds, I was more willing to share my art and learn from others to better my craft. VibeIt offers opportunities to share ideas with other photographers or creators to receive feedback and novel ideas to enhance projects. Models, photographers, and other creative minds work together to produce beautiful art while also focusing energy on uplifting and empowering each individual involved. I wanted to create a company that supports all of the characteristics people embody while also highlighting the differences that make individuals unique. The creative events hosted by VibeIt are designed to allow for all parties to share their ideas on what represents them as a person, constantly communicating their feedback to photographers, stylists, other models, etc. In a visually-stimulated world where judgements are passed quickly, VibeIt is meant to provide space to celebrate the unique traits that make us beautiful from an artistic lens.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently the lead speech therapist at a private practice. I specialize in introducing novel forms of communication to non-verbal individuals with severe or profound needs. I also provide coaching and support to therapists including a safe space for therapists to express concerns, difficulties, and emotional responses to therapy situations. Working in this environment has taught me new levels of patience, compassion, and acceptance that have impacted the way I move throughout every day life. The values behind VibeIt resonate with my therapy career due to the need for patience, compassion, and understanding within the creative world as well. I think this connection is a unique way to view creativity and allows for a much more human experience of art, with focus on global health of the mind, body, and soul. A person, with or without disability, requires some level of support to success and prosper throughout life whether that be purely motivational or fully physical. I’ve learned that provided this support can help bring people together and build a sense of trust and community that feels somewhat like a family. VibeIt is geared towards providing that sense of community and trust, creating a space for helping and growing together.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would begin with a picnic brunch at Wash Park. Bring a blanket, charcuterie board, friends and a handful of seltzers. We’d people watch and likely make new friends because Wash park is filled with so many people at all times. We would then walk around RiNo to check out the street art and enjoy the Denver sunshine. We’d stop at Barcelona Wine Bar for some tapas and drinks and head out for a spot with good vibes and dancing. The following morning I would force my friend to wake up at an unreasonably early hour to make sure we snag one of the 5 parking spots at an incredible hike that ends with a lake. We’d hike and enjoy lunch at the lake, heading back towards Denver around sunset. Hopefully we’d find some live music or outdoor art to explore, meeting and greeting all of the artists to hear their story. I’d take my friend to one of my favorite coffee shops, Ritual or Hudson Hill, and enjoy some snacks and coffee. I’d bring my friend to a VibeIt event and introduce them to the fantastic crew and connections we have made, inviting them to model or join in to check it out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first introduction into the photography world was my Dad. I am thankful to have witnessed his journey as a creative and had the space to learn from him. VibeIt team: Matt, Jackson, and Danny- I am so thankful to learn from and collaborate with you on projects. I appreciate all of the wildly different photo and editing styles we bring to the table as a unit and thrive in watching you all grow in your craft. All of the designers, producers, editors, photographers, videographers, stylists, creative directors who I have met and connected with in Chicago and Denver- thank you for inspiring my personal growth and the concept behind this company.
