We had the good fortune of connecting with Dan Kellams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The decision to create Peak Vitality was primarily motivated by the aspiration to establish a distinct healthcare model that deviates from conventional approaches. Drawing upon my experience within the medical center in Houston, Texas, as well as my involvement with various practices, I recognized a significant void in what I have termed “Collaborative Medicine.” This approach emphasizes the collective participation of multiple practitioners and clinicians in the care of patients. Integral to this model is the deliberate convening of meetings to comprehensively evaluate an individual’s health history, laboratory results, clinical outcomes, and past shortcomings. The aim is to foster collaborative problem-solving and cultivate a genuinely personalized care experience that is not only rooted in natural methods but also firmly grounded in evidence-based practices.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The creation and ultimate vision of Peak Vitality was certainly simpler in concept than it was bringing it into reality. Through out the years there has been many revised editions and I’m sure there will be more in the future. The most challenging aspect has been having a working model that was able to include a collaborative team while working to capture the attention of potential clients. Because our model of health doesn’t exist there was no example to copy, no tried and true process to duplicate and absolutely no one knew how we were different.

We learned that education of potential clients was a key piece to the growth of the office. We really had to create demand, the health issues are out there but for someone to understand why we were the preferrred solution and how we are different required understanding. Our marketing efforts became geared towards educating interested individuals on what we do and how we could help.

We operate under a few key concepts, it’s what we share with our clients, and they are driven by our core belief that your health shouldn’t be the limiting factor of why you can’t pursue your goals and dreams. Those key concepts are:

1. Health is measured, not assumed. You have to test, and test thoroughly.
2. Good is for groups, what is healthy is based on the individual.
3. Genetics make up at max about 30% of what happens to you, the rest is diet, lifestyle and nutrition.
4. The longer you wait to take control of your health, the further you get from it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What a wonderful question! Well I’m a fan of coffee, the sunrise and breakfast. I’d start with coffee and bacon at Cafe 13 in Golden. Get there early, no need to rush through breakfast. Spend the late morning/early afternoon strolling through downtown Golden visiting the shops. Lunch at the Buffalo Rose. After lunch take a trip up to Idaho Springs to stroll through town visiting the shops with a stop at Tommy Knockers for some of their incredible root beer. On the way back in town to wrap up the evening stop off at Vice Wine and Whiskey bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my professional trajectory spanning two decades, I have been profoundly influenced by two prominent figures, each of whom has played a pivotal role in shaping my growth as a practitioner.

The first individual is Dr. James Parsons, the found of Premier Physical Medicine and Total Health Solutions located in Pearland, Texas. Serving as an exceptional mentor, Dr. Parsons has consistently encouraged and fostered my continuous advancement in clinical expertise and knowledge acquisition, while instilling in me an unwavering mindset that believes in the existence of viable solutions even in the face of challenges.

The second significant influence stems from the remarkable contributions of Regan Archibald, the founder of East West Health and Accelerate Wellness, esteemed host of the Unreasonable Health Podcast, and the visionary behind Go Wellness. Regan has perpetually exemplified leadership and a relentless pursuit of innovation within the healthcare landscape. Under his guidance, I have been compelled to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies, constantly exploring their potential applications. Furthermore, Regan’s unwavering commitment extends beyond the mere establishment of an integrative practice; he actively champions the harmonious integration of Eastern Medicine and Western Therapeutics, harnessing their synergistic capabilities to enhance patient outcomes.
