We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Hogans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, how do you think about risk?
St. hogans | Artist/ Producer

Taking a risk means stepping out on something unknown and having the confidence that no matter the result , just by trying, you’ve already won. I spent years doing music with the intention that I could somehow imitate others, and be granted the same validation and success. It wasn’t till I took a risk on what was true to me that I was able to gain the Confidence I truly needed to succeed. When you’re honest with yourself it hurts… but you come out stronger than before.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Right now, I’m most excited about my new single coming out “it not you it’s me /water”. This Will be my first single as a solo artist. It will be 1 of 7 songs coming out on my ep. It’s really crazy and the music is really dope. I’m truly grateful .
Right now, I am a producer/ artist. it took
Perseverance to get to that point. My early stages in music had a pattern of being competitive and drivin by “tough love “.. the idea of tough love can be beneficial.. but when all you see it tough love it sometimes has the power to create an individual with with talent and skill but little to no confidence and a dream that is defined by demoralizing self deprecation. Even through this I found a success but with no light at the end of the tunnel. It wasn’t till I stopped completely and re-examined what I was doing and why, that I realized I have to take another path. It’s crazy but God showed me that my purpose was much more than what I was believing, and he showed me that i have something to offer this world that is uniquely me. It’s not going to look like you think. That moment really propelled me in to a state of crazy growth and confidence. That really propelled me to what I do today and why I do what I do. I make music that is natural to me, which tends to be more indie R&B, hip-hop/rap, pop, and a lot genre bending. The lyrics in my songs could be considered secular and Christian but the reality is I want the listener to choose. I make music in hopes that the listener can relate and find similarities in their own life that lineup with my own. Beyond being a solo artist my main thing has been making beats and sample packs for artists to be inspired by, and producing for other artists in the studio or online. Break down of what these things are
Beat making- Basically making musical ideas that a lyricist( singer, rapper ect) can complete with there lyrics.

Sample Pack – a series of sounds, could be a pen dropping on the floor, or a single hit. It’s up to the artist to take the sounds and make something out of it. Also I may throw a loop in there with these sounds as an example of the sounds all together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As an artist it’s easy to feel alone and isolate your self from others, God is the one that gives me the strength, courage and all that I need to make it through. I would also like to shout out my neighborhood of Montbello, Denver Colorado where I grew up. Seems like it produces a grip of creative individuals . A lot of who I am came from there
