We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Understanding risk is essential to life and business. Risk can only be taken as seriously as fear. The more we fear what we can do and how we can bring our dreams towards success, the less likely we are to achieve our aspirations.
Risk is a part of our everyday life. The skills we use to assess everyday risks can also be used in business. I believe it’s essential to balance past lessons and future wants when approaching risk. Risk should be cautioned in business but not feared.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The road to creativity is always a journey of introspection and perspective. It took me years of trial and error in different industries before I accepted my appetite for creativity and expression. I love to write, but I also love business. This is how I found myself one night, having a drink and making the decision to write and book and self publish that book.
I can’t say that my journey was hard, just that it took me longer than it should have to get here. We all have something that we feel called to and connected to but to accept that and take a leap of faith takes longer than expected. I’m happy and excited with my choices to pursue this passion and to share it with others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most of the places I enjoy visiting are places I like to write at, read at, and appreciate the area in. Below are some of my go to spots for the above,
– infinite Monkey – best for reading and writing poetry
– Union Station – Go to for editing and a cocktail
– RINO – good food, friends, and artsy shops for inspiration
– Santa Fe – local art and inspiration
-Zane’s Italian in DTC – my absolute favorite stop for any of the above
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Quite literally everyone in my life. The individuals currently in my life and those who have popped in and out over the years have all provided me with inspiration and lessons that have shaped the road I’m on now. I appreciate the experience I’ve had to this point and continue to thank those who have molded my ideas, appreciations, and perspectives. There are so many out there who have affected me in even the slightest ways and to all of them I am thankful.
