We had the good fortune of connecting with Dannie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dannie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I thought the only way to survive in this life was by working a 9-5, living in a big house with a white picket fence. I thought the “American dream”, was the only dream. Once I entered high school, I began to become more aware of different ways to live. For example; van life, living off of the grid, living in a sailboat, living in a camper, ect. I thought it was all so cool! I always watched youtube videos of people traveling and living these interesting, different lives, but never thought it would ever be possible for me. –
I want to be my own boss, work from home, travel as much as I can, be a present mother, and live a sustainable, off the grid life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is centered around nature themed accessories/clothing made with mostly sustainable and thrifted items. In the majority of my accessories I am using hemp-cord, crystals, thrifted beads, and so much more! My crochet clothing is all made from sustainable 100% cotton yarn. I am beginning to create an entire swim suit line made out of crocheted cotton and I am so excited to see how it turns out! –
Getting to the point where I am at now was not easy, but I know that everything that is happening to me, is guiding me to becoming the best version of myself. I know that I will manifest my dreams into a reality. It is hard to see the good in things especially when starting a small business, but know that with anything in life, things take time and as long as you give it your all and you stay positive, you will get to where you need to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from the west Michigan area! I 100% recommend checking out “Howling Timbers animal Sanctuary” in Muskegon. They are a non-profit animal sanctuary that is home to wolves, wolf dogs, and other exotic animals. I volunteered there for a little while and they have guided tours! –
Food wise, I would check out “Morning Star Cafe” in Grand Haven. They are a cute breakfast place with not only the best staff, but mouthwatering food and really good coffee!

And of course, any of the beaches on the Lake Michigan shore are beautiful. Silver lake/Pentwater area is definitely one of my favorites.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2022, my partner began opening my mind to things I never thought possible. I began to be more open and knew that I could manifest anything that I desired. I had always been an artist and creating accessories/clothing for myself and my friends. I once tried to open my small business in 2020 during covid, but gave up very quickly. Once again, my partner opened my mind to re-opening my small business again and to keep at it and to not give up. His own business was very inspiring to me. To say the least, I would not be here today if it wasn’t for my partner. He inspires me artistically and spiritually. –
