We had the good fortune of connecting with Dante White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dante, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a journey fueled by passion, resilience, and a desire to make a difference. From a young age, I was inspired by my mom, who transformed her creativity into various side hustles—from decorating cakes to starting her own interior design business. Watching her create something remarkable out of nothing instilled in me a deep-seated admiration for entrepreneurship.

Then came the transformative period of COVID. Being laid off twice during the pandemic was a wake-up call. It made me realize that life is too short to wait for the ‘perfect’ moment. The pandemic, with all its uncertainties, pushed me to seize the day. The time spent at home with my son, volunteering in his class, and chaperoning his field trips were precious moments I didn’t want to miss anymore. This newfound freedom and the desire to never miss out on important milestones again solidified my decision to create my own path.

Oppuous was born out of this desire for freedom and purpose. Our name stands for “an opportunity for you is an opportunity for us,” embodying the core of our mission. We created a business model that not only meets DE&I requirements but also reinvests a portion of our profits into minority, women, and veteran-run organizations. This approach allows us to give back to the community while offering essential services to businesses.

Oppuous is more than just a business; it’s a movement. By leveraging our marketplace (oppuous.com/marketplace), businesses can access vital services like cybersecurity, internet, phones and over a 1,000 different tech solutions and support at competitive prices, all while supporting a greater cause. It’s the ultimate win-win situation.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are a few things that set us apart. We have an innovative marketplace ( https://youtu.be/hTiGgGptEd4?si=l6ORZVJXs5fwnNa6 ) in addition to our traditional consulting practice. The online marketplace is a one-stop shop (like Amazon) for business tech solutions. Additionally, we have nationwide engineering and cloud specialists to advise clients along the way at no charge. Oppuous provides, on average, 15% savings on solutions and hundreds of hours of saved time per year. Unlike buying all your solutions from individual companies, Oppuous makes buying technology simple, stress-free, and efficient. You can even keep your existing relationships with software manufacturers; we just add better customer service and typically better pricing, even on existing installs. Our giving-back component also makes us different—no other technology partner will do that. Since software subscriptions are monthly recurring, it creates a sustainable source to help our community grow.

I’m proud of many things we’ve done so far. A few notable achievements include beating out 50,000 businesses nationwide to compete on a reality show called “The Blox” on Amazon Prime TV (check me out on Season 7 here https://youtu.be/BUlV_awHJDM?si=UZZMEan_TGiU4oq- )). We were awarded Impact Company of the Year 2023 by DotCom Magazine, invited, and competed among thousands of start-ups nationwide in Pepperdine University’s Most Fundable competition, and more!

What do I want the world to know? Great question. I want them to know that if I can do it, so can you. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. With the right determination, you can make a big difference. That’s what I’m really here to do—make a difference. I believe that every single one of us has the ability to do good while doing great.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Red Rocks tops the list without question. I’d take them to eat in Aurora or in South Denver off Federal; those two districts have THE MOST authentic and best foods, hands down. We’d absolutely need to hit some hiking trails like Lake Haiyaha or Emerald Lake. Meow Wolf is a must! I’d also recommend hanging out in Five Points, at what’s now called RiNo, where the graffiti is amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people have played a role in my success that it’s hard to pick just one. First and foremost, I’m going Snoop Dogg style and thanking myself. I had the passion and persistence to form Oppuous and push through even when times were tough. I believe everyone should recognize that they are fully in charge of their own destiny. As I always say, “manifestation without perspiration stays in your imagination.” It’s not enough to want it; you need to go out and get it.

My family has also been a tremendous source of support. I wouldn’t have come this far without them. Thanks, Mom, Dad, and GG! I also want to acknowledge my partners. Being polyamorous, it truly takes a pit crew (lol). They have supported me in countless ways throughout the growth of my business. They’re amazing, and I love them all.

Finally, I want to thank the haters out there. I come from humble beginnings and have been told repeatedly that I wouldn’t get out of the hood, wouldn’t amount to much, and would never succeed. Their animosity honestly fuels me, and I need to acknowledge them too.
