We had the good fortune of connecting with Dave LeVeque and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dave, do you have a budget? How do you make lifestyle and spending decisions?
I started budgeting my money right out of College. I learned early that you can’t judge your finances in your business or personal life by just looking at your bank account balance. You have to pay attention to your spending and set goals for yourself. This behavior has brought me a lot of success financially and allowed me to enjoy my personal life much more as it is one less thing to worry about.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say far and away that a focus on skill development has allowed me to elevate throughout my business life. I put a very intentional focus on learning and mastering the skills that were offered at my last company. It got to a point where I was examining others in these skills and certifying them in these areas. I’ve found I learn so much more when I am teaching others about a skill and I had many opportunities to do this. In terms of my brand I would say that I am on a constant search for excellence with an understanding that you never truly arrive.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would bring them to Union Station as a starting point to get a drink and have them see some of the great history in this building. From there I would jump on a scooter and float to different neighborhoods, likely RiNo and The Highlands. I would make sure we ended our night at Root Down for dinner and then to Little Man for some ice cream.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would give a shoutout to my wife Betsy. She has been invaluably supportive to me and helps me be at my best way more than I could ever figure out on my own. She really helps me think through big decisions and feel good about the direction I decide to go.
