We had the good fortune of connecting with David Corder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It started because I had gotten really out of shape and was have health issues. I went back to school to learn why and how to fix myself. Then friends saw the changes I was making and asked if I could help them. Soon, I found my self in a new career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I often say that I am in my seventh career, looking for the next. My first love, and still is in reality, was performing. I have been on stages in 34 different countries. As a pianist, singer, dancer, actor, director, and even as a writer my life has always revolved around performance.

When I was young I thrived on the attention, the accolades, the applause. Now that I have matured I realize that what I truly love is the creative process, the collaboration. The actual performing now leaves me feeling unfulfilled.

I believe that the creative process is why I have never felt really stressed about challenges that come up. Each challenge brings the opportunity to collaborate and create a way through or around a situation.

I have learned that when you allow others their ideas and voices to lift and support you, exciting and new adventures surprise you and make each day joyous in discovery.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love when friends come to visit this wonderful State. One of my first things to do is to take them on a ride through the mountains. It doesn’t matter what time of year it is there is more beauty to see here than just about anywhere I have traveled. If it happens to be winter we’ll definitely stop in Summit County for the best skiing and boarding in the world. If it’s summer or fall we’ll be hiking.

When we take our trip to the City, I always refer to Denver as The City, we’ll probably have brunch or dinner in Larimar Square. If it’s brunch there is no doubt we’ll be dining at Bistro Vendome. If It’s dinner we have our choice of restaurants on the street that will satisfy anyone’s culinary cravings. We will follow any of these with a show at Denver Center. After the show maybe some drinks and Burlesque at the Clock Tower. Whether it is a Broadway tour company or one of the more local selections we are guaranteed an experience that will influence our conversations for the rest of our travels.

In the Springs, Colorado Springs for the non local, we will be spending a day at the United States Olympic/Paralympic Museum. The only place to go to really feel empowered and inspired. A trip through Garden of the Gods and through Old Colorado City and Manitou would be a must.

There are so many things to do, I am sure my friends will be begging to return.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had the good fortune to have so many mentors, teachers, instructors, and friends that have helped to guide me to where I am in my life. Spiritual advisers who always thought outside the conventional boxes of religion are probably the first I would recognize as movers in my life.

My instructors and teachers in music and performance would be the people who gave me the confidence and communication abilities to make sure I could share information with people in fun and informative ways.

I have always had one important, underlying motive in my life. Every time I meet someone I ask myself the same question, “What am I going to learn from this person?” This question sets everyone I meet up as a teacher. It makes life very interesting. Therefore, everyone I have ever meet deserves credit for who I am today.
