We had the good fortune of connecting with David Juarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Juarez Photography LLC came to be as a team effort between my ex wife and I. I had dabbled in photography in the past and she was really motivated to express her creativity with photography. I have always been a business orientated individual and was intrigued by the low cost, high margin business model. Of course, there was a learning curve and the learning never stops. I ended up really enjoying capturing individuals “aura” as you will behind a lens and adding my own creativity to every shot. To this day, I treat every shoot as if it was my first and humbly provide amazing service to all my clients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love the emotional connection that comes with every photography session. It isn’t about just taking a good photo, but instead capturing what makes you, you. I know I did a great job, when I see my client use one of my photos as their profile pictures, for months, or years to come. Hmm overall Photography is not easy, it takes time and dedication. At the end of the day, clients are paying for your style and what it represents. Developing your style can take years and it is always changing. I would tell someone who is starting out to be patient with themselves. The biggest lesson, and I believe this to be true with any business is to provide excellent customer service and ALWAYS over deliver. Its ok to make a mistake, but make sure you make it right every time. My vision for Juarez Photography LLC in the short term is to expand more into Wedding Photography. Long term, Juarez Photography LLC will be a key to providing additional income for my other ventures to come.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok this is an easy question! Glenwood springs for a day or two. Let’s go to the hot springs, enjoy some mojitos, and devour some amazing Mexican food. After that, let’s road trip to a place we have never been to before and explore.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Mario Salazar. Without us quitting our day jobs and blindly jumping into our first business, I would have never been exposed to the love photography. Another humble shoutout to my ex wife Ashley Garcia. Ashley was the “why” to the photography business during its early days. Without her, Juarez Photography LLC would not be in existence.
