We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree and Adrian Barragan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree and Adrian, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Nobody wanted to share their stage, so we built our own” – Adrian (DFT co-owner) Before we had a fashion truck, we were trying to get Desiree’s handmade frocks into local boutiques. At the time this was a big deal for us. It didn’t work out.

And with that, we decided to open a boutique offering our own individual crafts along with other Colorado artists and designers. Building a stage (in our case, a retrofitted fashion truck) to get exposure and share our passion is what this self-made quote means to us.

We like this because we are proud of the hard work we had to put in in order to share our artistic vision. We get to perform.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are Denver Fashion Truck a mobile boutique offering goods made by Colorado artists and designers along with and eclectic selection of vintage.

Our business model is different from other boutiques because we are mobile.

We are most proud that we have been operating since 2013. And that we helped pioneer fashion trucking in Colorado. Also, we have own exclusive line of apparel and screen print in-house!

Hard work and persistence is how we got here today. Simply put, there is no substitute for hard work. It was not easy. As a fairly new business model, there was a lot to learn. We had to balance the mobile aspect and the boutique experience. Not to mention, we retrofitted our mobile boutique ourselves.

We have learned a few lessons along the way. first, fill up your tank before jumping on I-25. Don’t let the nay sayers throw your focus off, just keep it moving. Don’t be afraid to take chances.

We would like everyone to know that we are Denver locals. We are a husband and wife duo who met at North High School and have four daughters.
We love DFT and have no plans to stop being a fashion truck any time soon but we also have plans for a new venture!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Not in this particular order but if we had a friend visiting we would take them shopping/thrifting on south broadway. Maybe we’d go to RiNo to check some of the street art and graffiti art. We’d take them to one of our favorite watering holes in Capital hill Charlie Browns – a historic piano bar. We would have to take them to one of our guilty pleasure spots for some 2am munchies (smothered fries) at The Original Chubby”s in the Northside. Also, we could stop for a hike before heading to Bread Bar in Silverplume for a tasty cocktail,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to shout out Denver’s local handmade community including Fashion Denver’s Brandi Shigley. Being accepted into her markets bought us closer to the handmade community allowing us to grow as artists. Also, shouts a very supporting group of family and friends especially Desiree’s parents and Adrian’s brother!
