We had the good fortune of connecting with Sykora Zabel-Karr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sykora, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
One of my favorite quotes inspires hope as dreams seem possible by simply choosing and living for them, regardless of the obstacles. “You do what you can for as long as you can, and when you finally can’t, you do the next best thing. You back up, but you don’t give up.” -Chuck Yeager

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mindfully Well LLC is the middle ground to mental health care. It challenges the stigma that states, “prioritizing your mental wellness means declaring a mental illness.” Each individual experiences an imbalance in their health and wellness daily. I knew there was more to mental well-being than diagnosing and treatment planning for challenges that could be addressed using foundational self-care. Combining my degrees in Exercise Science and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and my experience working in the medical, fitness, nutrition, and mental health fields, I realized I was able do to bring awareness and understanding to the holistic perspective of care, customizing it to the needs of each individual.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s start the morning with a sunrise at Liberty Point. Then off we go, taking a drive along the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway. First comes San Isabel National Forest and moreso, San Isabel Lake where we spend time kayaking. Next, a quick pit stop at Bishop Castle. Continuing south through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and maybe even to the Wet Mountains, its all about the views. Further on, a visit to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve for sand boarding. Ending the evening is just as much an adventure with food and drinks wherever the night takes us, as long as there is a sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many who have supported and encouraged me along my way to success. Shoutout to all my family, friends, colleagues, and mentors-you know who you are. Thank you for continuing to be a voice for mental health awareness. Being a part of the difference will have a lasting positive impact.
