We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Auckerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an Artistic career because I get to be creative every single day. Whether it’s trying something new when photographing someone or having an idea for a studio shoot, I’m always getting to try and do something new. As a wedding photographer I get to experience different settings everyday while enjoying the beauty of photography.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a wedding photographer located in Denver. This is my second year of weddings as I just graduated photography school. I was blessed to photograph 15 weddings my first summer and I’m so excited for what the next has to bring! As a 20 year old starting a business can be hard. You go from being super busy to being really slow for a second. I’ve learned I have to be patient and that my hard work will pay off. A lesson I’ve learned is it always does. I also learned that when it’s slow it’s okay to breathe and work on your brand as well as personal work in your free time (especially because as you get busier it’s hard to manage time for that). I think this year what I’m most proud of is narrowing down my style. It took me months to figure out. I want the world to know that my business is welcoming and full of love. I have really began to be passionate of helping others my age start a business and I’m hoping this year I can start helping other photographers my age out!!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my Best friend was visiting I would most likely take them to a city park and do a charcuterie board date as it has become one of my favorite things. I would also take them ham-mocking skiing and to my favorite restraunt D bar in downtown Denver. I would also take them shopping in rhino art District to Meek vintage, Modern nomad and Crema some of my favorite shops. Last I would drive up to Indian hot springs because it’s the closet to downtown Denver and it’s so relaxing and a very fun childhood memory of mine !!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Memory lane salon and Bridal boutique is my mom. Since I was a little girl she has always told me how amazing it is to run your own business. She has been supportive and helpful through my ups and downs of starting a new business. We are partnered together as a mother and daughter for wedding photography and hair.
