We had the good fortune of connecting with Deuce Sharbonda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deuce, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My life has been full of risks. Without taking risks you may never reach your full potential. I’ve been faced with many situations in which I could have chosen to take an easier path but it’s always felt better taking the chance, seeing what is really out there. Taking risks led me to tattooing and that has taken me for more adventures and moments I wouldn’t change for the world. I never would have thought that the art world could hold so many opportunities that involved risks and how you choose to handle those situations.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started tattooing around 25 years ago so my entry into this world wasn’t easy, there were a lot a gates to make it through. I loved it and excelled I was always fascinated by art, I also tried my hand at graffiti and boy o boy was that fun, many many adventures arose from that even landing my in county jail for almost a year. I’ve move out of state a few times, Texas, Florida and Missouri for example. Every time I moved it was like starting from scratch but I enjoyed exploring seeing what the world had in store for me. I’ve learned to put a lot of what I experienced into my art whether it be on canvas, wall, train, or skin. I don’t always get to tattoo the images or the art I would have expected sometimes but every person has a unique story or reason for there want of a particular tattoo. I still find it fascinating how all these little things come together to create a tattoo. The travels I’ve been on leading me to this spot and having someone randomly have something happen in there life to bring them in to get a permanent mark on them forever. It’s a great honor to get to help people with this. I feel like I’m where I am supposed to be now but getting here was no easy task.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d say def check out Breckenridge and glenwood springs, any of the hot springs area are dope, casa Bonita, pearl street mall, 16th street, cheesman park the nature and science museum. Of course meow wolf. Last thing if the weather is nice and it’s not winter adventure golf in Westminster is a sleeper of a mini golf course!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My amazing girlfriend. Without her I would never have found the strength to get sober, on top of that I owe her my life. A few years back I experienced heart failure without her I would have died. She also tattooes beside me and she actually is a co-owner of Black Altar tattoo located in Golden Colo. she is a constant source of inspiration and motivation to be a better person.
