We had the good fortune of connecting with Devon Balet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devon, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
It is hyper competitive, especially after our country’s reckoning with racial justice. You can have a great brand client but if the internal person you work with leaves, you are usually back to square one with that brand. There are NO GUARANTEES

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Most of my photography is within adventure lifestyle, largely in the cycling industry. Over the past few years I have been working on a massive project that will result in a feature length documentary that is slated to be released to theaters summer 2024

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always take visiting friends for a drive through Colorado National monument that usually finishes at hot tomato in fruita. Ramblebine is my favorite local brewery and namaste Nepal is a must eat while in town. Whether you want to ride bikes, hike, float the river, camp, ride motos and so much more, there are endless options for fun here in the Grand Valley

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mike McCormack, founder and promoter of the Breck Epic and much more. I walked into over the edge sports back in 2004 nervous and unsure what I had to do to photograph the bike race. Mike took me under his wing, helped me that weekend and has been my biggest cheerleader ever since. 20 years later I have to honor to shoot for Mike every year at the Breck Epic.
