We had the good fortune of connecting with Diane Boyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diane, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
1. Family- I have 2 daughters and recently became a Grandmother, who will be on Skis for the first time this year at 22 months! 2. Seeing people follow their passion on the slopes, in Skea.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
50 years is a long time…SKEA has served our retail partners through snow droughts and powder days, through economic ups and downs, and we pride ourselves with personalized service for all. SKEA has overcome the challenges of being a small family owned business competing in a world of multinational corporations by keeping business personal with hands on service. We have learned that, no matter what, take ultimate care of your customers. SKEA is passionate about our vision that, “If health is the new wealth, then we who live the mountain lifestyle must be the wealthiest people of all!” At SKEA we follow our passion to our dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Colorado, a week long explorer’s trip would include a day hiking at Mayflower Gulch (winter or summer), with coffee in Leadville afterwards, then a drive to visit Camp Hale, our new national monument. A night spent in Vail with a yummy dinner at Vintage restaurant.. Of course a visit to the Colorado Ski Museum where you can learn about all the Colorado ski resorts and the 10th Mountain Division mountain troops who were stationed at Camp Hale in WWII. Skiing in the Back Bowls for sunny powder with picnic lunches on the mountain and aprés ski at the Blu Cow…Staying cozy in your SKEA down ski jackets on the slope and off…Visit Sand Dunes National monument to the South and on the way visit the goat farm just outside Buena Vista to sample fresh goat cheese!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
SKEA could never be where it is today at our 50 year anniversary without the mentorship, love, encouragement, and dedication of SKEA’s founders and my parents, Jocelyn and Georges Boyer. They worked tirelessly to put SKEA on the map as a women specific outerwear and activewear brand that provides fashion, fit, and function to women who enjoy the mountain lifestyle. The SKEA gals continue true to our family tradition of customer service and personalized attention to detail for our retail partners and individual SKEA lovers alike. SKEA also gives a huge shout out to our customers who support us in every way!
