We had the good fortune of connecting with Dianna Vagianos Armentrout and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dianna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After years of working in various sectors including corporate, higher education, public health and nonprofit, it was time to give myself the freedom of making my own schedule, and working with people to ignite my joy. Launching a family practice in Classical Homeopathy has given me a flexible schedule, a mission that I believe in, and the joy of working one-on-one with clients to support them as they maximize their health. Classical Homeopathy is a unique field, even in our alternative medicine world. We are working with the Vital Force (qi in Chinese Medicine). When we take the one homeopathic remedy that has similar symptoms, we face our stresses with more ease, and we often see symptoms decrease. I studied at the New England School of Homeopathy with Drs. Paul Herscu and Amy Rothenberg, and learned the Cycles and Segments approach. We group symptoms together, and look for patterns in the client, including underlying predispositions and responses to stress, to find that one remedy. Homeopathy is individual, so three clients with asthma, will likely need three different remedies. I don’t know of any other modality that can impact a client’s mood, asthma, and learning challenges.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When my newborn daughter Mary Rose died an hour after birth of Trisomy 18, my entire life changed. I was given the gift of knowing what is important in life, and I have been focused on how I want to spend my time on this planet. I wrote a book called Walking the Labyrinth of My Heart: A Journey of Pregnancy, Grief and Newborn Death. That journey of birthing a baby who could die so early, felt like a walk in a sacred labyrinth. I had to find my center to do this spiritual and physical work. My business is called Labyrinth of the Heart Center, and I want my clients to know that even though life is a meandering road of challenges and varied experiences, traumas and the symptoms that arise from them, we all have a calm center in the midst of the chaos of this world.

I designed my practice to represent the things that are important to me and my family. As a mother, I need to trust the providers who support my son. As an alternative health practitioner, I offer deep listening and attention to each person who enters my little clinic. My clients and I walk closely together. So much of what I do is educating clients about the journey with homeopathy and the path to greater health. I also enjoy supporting parents who are struggling with behaviors or recurring infections in their children. We become a team walking to the other side of some difficult moments.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many beautiful experiences to be had in Colorado. Two of my favorite experiences are South Valley hiking trails in Ken Caryl and the Denver Botanic Gardens. Holy Transfiguration of Christ Cathedral in Globeville is a beautiful historic church. Imagining immigrants at the end of the 19th century establishing the community that exists to this day touches me deeply. We could go to Blue Pan Pizza afterwards. Finally, a quiet cabin in Ouray would be a healing balm for the rest of the week. Hot springs, waterfalls, and hiking trails are the best spots for visitors in Colorado.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My beloved homeopath, Aniela Costello, recommended the New England School of Homeopathy which went virtual for the first time in its decades-long history with the pandemic. After being Aniela’s client for over a decade, I knew that I wanted to work with families, especially children, to regain their balance with homeopathic remedies. My deep-hearted therapist, Dr. Adele McDowell has also been a huge support. These two women have been blessings, as they cheer me on.
