We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego D Ruiz IV and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diego D, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Music is a spiritual game… I found that the spiritual practices I have been devoted to for over a decade go hand in hand with the music I want to create as well as supporting artists in their process. So I decided to create a business around it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting with music first and foremost, I got my first musical influences from 2000s nu metal and punk rock, although historically my deepest love has been and still is House Music. My influences in that genre hail from the deep sounds of Chicago and New York… the source of House. I constantly aim to make my music better each day obviously, but what I would say sets my music apart is my vocal selection… To me vocals are God. It’s hearing a powerful quote, or clip from a video, podcast or other song that makes me want to get up and make music. The feeling in my body is so powerful when I hear a significant vocal that I must give it massive credit for much of the driving force behind all of my musical ambition.

What I’m most excited about is combining my rock and metal roots with the sounds of deep house in a way that is dark and aggressive, yet uplifting and spiritual. I think addressing darkness and expressing darkness (within all art but especially and specifically music) can be a powerful method for catalyzing healing in both yourself and your audience. I’ve always been fairly connected to my shadow side, and that is something I look forward to integrating more into my musical expression.

On the healing side, my art consists of specific “combo flows” that include embodiment, breath, and meditation techniques all combined into one flow that I have curated and refined over the years. This is, and has been, the main thing keeping me grounded, healthy, and balanced over the years… even after facing death, heartbreak, betrayal, and soul crushing instability over my travels and adventures across the globe. The way I hold space for my students and my audience has become an art form in and of itself as well as a science And I aim to further refine this day by day.

This process has most definitely not been easy. I overcame the inevitable challenges involved in the pursuit of mastery by staying married to my vision and being consistent with the daily activities required of the craft.

The main lesson I’ve learned is *patience* (something I am sometimes still brutally challenged with on a day-by-day, even moment-by-moment basis) and continues to reveal new lessons to me. I’ve also learned that *courage* is key. Courage is the ultimate ingredient necessary for nature to reward you with what you desire. Hard work has always been in my repertoire, but an amount of softness within that hard work, coupled with courage and patience is something that has revealed itself overtime and it is and is still revealing itself as I continue forward.

I’d say what I want the world to know about my brand is that music is a spiritual game, and centering practices paired with musical creation can bring so much joy and bliss to humanity as well as the artist themselves. Being a tortured artist is not a prerequisite for creating amazing art. One can be blissfully aligned with nature and still make incredible things. In fact, I would argue that very alignment is in fact the very BEST way to make the BEST things.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Red rocks is a given… few if any venues in the world I’ve ever seen can match It’s sheer raw beauty.

1134 Broadway is my favorite underground club for house and techno. It’s loungy atmosphere, quality sound and great vibe always attract amazing fun people and even better artists.

For Café vibes, I would have to say Frank and Roze and Aviano Coffee both in Cherry Creek have a classy well lit atmosphere and incredible caffeinated drinks.

For cocktails Hey kiddo And Family Jones have some of the best.

Uchi and Tamaki Den for sushi

What would Denver be without its nature? There are so many spots I would recommend in the Rocky Mountains to get away for the weekend and if you’re in the city, Cheesman Park for some wide open park vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my parents who raised me to think critically, work hard, and approach everything in a spirit of Devotion. My spiritual teachers from my 20’s that gave me such incredible foundation of practices and philosophy. The New York and Chicago House Music legends of old, along with any other boundary pushing artists who helped start and propel this incredible movement we now know as dance music.
