Meet Dion Studinski | Dog Trainer & Behaviorist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dion Studinski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dion, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Having launched several successful companies, I knew delivering results would drive growth, and it did. One of my biggest challenges was breaking through the mainstream reliance on all-positive training methods, which often fail with dogs displaying serious behavioral issues like aggression or severe anxiety. For example, a highly reactive dog may require more than just treats and praise. It needs clear boundaries and structure to feel secure and learn proper behavior. Many trainers push techniques that don’t work for all dogs, especially those with complex behavioral challenges. I had to prove that my system, built on real-world experience, was different. Through persistence, continuous learning, and word-of-mouth referrals, Ancillary K9 became the trusted dog training practice it is today.
Success comes from solving real problems and if you provide lasting results, people will find you. The relationship between a dog and its owner is key; training isn’t just about commands but about communication, leadership, and trust. A solid philosophy works for any dog and doesn’t need constant adaptation. Integrity matters and being honest about what works, even when it goes against trends, builds trust and credibility.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Ancillary K9, we specialize in obedience, aggression, and behavioral issues, breaking down complex behaviors into simple, actionable training for owners. Using canine psychology, science-based methods, and years of experience, we resolve issues quickly and effectively. Unlike many training businesses, I maintain close relationships with my clients. Every client has my personal cell number, and I’m available for consultations long after training ends. My goal isn’t just quick results, it’s lasting change, ensuring dogs maintain good behavior by reinforcing structure, leadership, and consistency in their daily lives.
Many clients come to me after failed training attempts, feeling frustrated and hopeless. We give them hope because we believe every dog can learn with the right guidance. I find it rewarding to be the trainer who finally makes a difference—helping people understand their dogs, strengthening their bond, and fixing behavior issues for good. I’ve saved countless dogs from being rehomed, surrendered, and even euthanized. Knowing I’ve made that impact is deeply fulfilling.
We don’t offer gimmicks or generic solutions. Our system delivers real results, especially for dogs with behavioral challenges. We care about our clients and their dogs and are committed to their success. If you’ve struggled to find training that works, we’re here to help. You don’t have to give up on your dog.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Denver for a week, we’d explore Union Station and check out Red Rocks Amphitheatre for breathtaking views. A trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and The Stanley Hotel would also be on the itinerary. A discovery flight at Aspen Flying Club would provide a unique experience and stunning aerial views of the area, followed by dinner at The Perfect Landing in Centennial. To cap it off, I’d try to convince them to give Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a try at 303 Training Center!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I had a reactive dog and struggled to find trainers who could help. After multiple failed attempts, I turned to working and protection dog training and found a mentor specializing in Schutzhund. Their expertise in precision training, drive development, and behavioral shaping transformed my dog and my understanding of training. That experience became the foundation of the system I use today: one that actually works, especially for difficult cases, by combining real-world working dog techniques with a practical, results-driven approach tailored to family dogs.
