We had the good fortune of connecting with Doris Hobbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Doris, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I have always been authentic in all that I do. With that said I have found throughout my personal journey a clear vision with a goal card provides one a clear understanding of what is needed to stay focused and motivated. In addition, a strong work ethic, which includes attributes of dedication and effort are also required along with the willingness to learn and allow your soul room to grow. Author, John C. Maxwell quote “Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” has always resonated with me because one must be willing to learn new things and adapt to new situations.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have learned that change is inevitable. Nothing stays the same. Life is in constant motion maneuvering you through the next lesson you are meant to experience. However, if we take a closer look at each step of our journey, we would find a hint of glamour before us. I have created and share with others on the importance of developing a mindset to never allow defeat to define your existence, instead always remember where there is pain there is growth. I awake each morning with gratitude for another day to inspire others with glamour, inspiration, authenticity, and an unbinding courage to never give up despite what the day may bring.
I always encourage others to remember that each day; you become what you think of most. Rather than registering difficult thoughts, look around and make note of what you appreciate most in life. There is hidden treasure filled with fortune if you do, because we must all know we are rich in love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depending on where you are within the East Bay, there are a number of trails in the hills that can give you an amazing view of the bay, especially after it’s just rained recently. Point Isabel is also lovely for walking, even if you don’t have a dog. For those that like to un-wine there’s a number of great bars in the East Bay. For cocktails, there’s Trophy Club in Emeryville, The Cat House nested in the heart of Oakland, plus let’s not forget wine country where you are approximately a 35-mile drive to your choice of Livermore Valley Wine Country or Historic Napa Valley. And lastly for the early morning riser (like me) there are a number of coffee shops and bakeries that are worth visiting, many that are vegan or keto friendly. My ideal day would start with stopping by a few of those…
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have found on my journey a number of influential mentors have crossed my path providing me with increased knowledge, constructive criticism and words of encouragement. Starting in my youth with my grandfather, to a number of business owners & coaches to my personal Reiki Energy Healer (Patience, Owner of Reiki Harmony Wellness Studio).
On Episode 158 of Dose of Doris on YouTube I shared the 11 books that changed my life which I might add all found me during the progression of my career and evolution. A few worth mentioning are: Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue Book #1, The Way of Zen by Alan Watts, Project 369: The Key to the Universe and The Power Is Within You by Louise L Hay.
