We had the good fortune of connecting with Doug Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Doug, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor would be Perseverance is to navigate using crucial analysis, facts and evidence which will reduce ricks of making poor choices for the lack of knowledge. To believe in you and what you can do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been playing music all my life and started playing cornet first because I was to small at 8 for my age to play trumpet. Back in the day, My father Walter Davis Jackson was a back-up drummer for the great Duke Ellington in the 20’s through Texas. I’m supposed to relative the gospel great Mahalia Jackson as well. I persevered through it all, That’s just what you have to do, to try to make a living at this business of music, no not easy. It’s the love of the music that keeps me going. Joe Bonner said that I have the best tone that he heard in a long time, and I thank him. I want the world to now that I keep my noise to the grinding stone and loving it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my wife Karen of 30 years of marriage was a witness to a young trumpeter turn into a living legend! To my daughter for her love as she see’s her father gain notoriety To Skip Reeves for his radio show ” A Funk Above The Rest ” for airing ” Stowaway on The Mothership ” that is played in 136 counties and, with over 281000 streams, and regular rotation on his show. To the musician/meteors that came before and have gone to be with the ancestor is James Brown whom created Funk music that chance the world and my life, seeing him first at age 10 in 1960 and the last time face-to-face in 1987 Regents Hotel Denver. George Clinton founder of Parliament Funkadelics. My first trumpeter teacher of substance was Julius Ellerbe, saxophonist Walter Dockins Whom was my theory teacher. Pianist Joe Bonner was everything, write arranger composter soloist, Arranged and performed on ” First Breath ” album, around the world with renowned Trumpeter Freddie Hubbert. To myself for earing a master’s degree at 68 years old.
