Meet Dr. Aerial | Licensed Psychotherapist and Owner of Boulder Therapy & Wellness

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Aerial and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Aerial, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the biggest lessons my career has taught me is the importance of bringing my whole self into my work just as I do in my personal life. When I show up as a genuine, relatable human, not just a therapist, it helps create space where clients feel safe and comfortable to do the same. I’ve also learned that work-life balance is so necessary for me to show up fully and with compassion so I really try to practice what I preach with communication, setting boundaries and spending my time effectively. This work has helped me grow not just professionally, but personally too.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My journey to creating Boulder Therapy & Wellness has been deeply personal. I’m a therapist who has personally lived through trauma, navigated profound healing, and emerged with a commitment to helping others do the same. My path to becoming a therapist was born from a desire to not only understand my own story but to create a space where others could feel safe, supported, and empowered in theirs.
I offer trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy to adults across Colorado. I typically work with people who are holding a lot, trying to make sense of their experiences, and longing for a space where they can feel understood and improve their ways of coping and navigating through life. What sets my practice apart is the integration of clinical expertise with real-world experience, deep empathy, and a non-judgmental presence. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and life transitions, and I do so with the belief that healing is always possible, even if it feels far away.
Being a solo provider has its challenges and can feel isolating at times, but one of the most supportive decisions I made was creating a consultation group with other thoughtful, values-aligned therapists. This group has become a space of connection, inspiration and support.
The path to building my practice wasn’t easy. It’s taken time, creativity, and a willingness to grow. I have had to teach myself A LOT because running a business was not something I received any education on in graduate school! I feel really proud of what I have done so far on my own.
What I want people to know is that my practice is more than just a profession- it’s personal. It’s woven from my own journey and grounded in the belief that healing is possible when we’re met with compassion, care, and connection. I always look forward to meeting new clients and helping them experience this.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, they would first expect that I like to pack in a lot of adventures. Since I am based in Boulder, one of my favorite Spring/Summer activities is going to the Boulder Farmers Market and wandering around Pearl Street. I would then want to do a hike at Chautauqua or Mount Sanitas followed by grabbing matcha at one of my current favorite cafes (Boxcar, Creature Comforts or Suti & Co.) I would also definitely make a mini trip to Crested Butte, my favorite mountain town, for a couple of days to hike, see the wildflowers and eat at some restaurants that I love.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the loving support of my dear friend, Dr. Molly Burrets. She started as one of my first professors in graduate school, quickly became a trusted mentor, and has since become one of my closest friends. Her encouragement, wisdom, and belief in me have been a steady source of strength throughout my journey.
