We had the good fortune of connecting with Felipe Patino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Felipe, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. My family moved to the US almost 20 years ago. Playing music at an early age and enjoying listening to records is what drove me into music production. That turned into a passion, and that turned into a business!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Green Door Recordings, is a studio where bands and artists can create and develop their musical vision in a relaxed environment. I put care, hard work and commitment to every project that comes through the door and I believe this it what sets me apart. Establishing the business was a lengthy and somewhat difficult process, however the outcome surpassed all my expectations. Managing my time (scheduling) and getting the books/financials in order was probably the most challenging part of the business, although with the support from my wife, positive attitude and a little bit of patience I was able to find some balance and stay busy. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned through the years is how crucial relationships are for any business. My clients always end up becoming my friends and I cherish their friendship regardless of whether we’re in business or not. I would love for people to know that my studio is a place you can express yourself and take your music to it’s full potential.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Assuming this pandemic is over I would start with breakfast at Jelly’s followed by a nice hike anywhere in the foothills. Then lunch/dinner at The Brutal Poodle (their rellenos are amazing!) then maybe a trip to one of our local breweries followed by a pit stop at Mutiny Cafe to grab some comics just to close the night hanging out a Bowman’s and catch a show!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For sure. Shoutout to my incredible wife Jaime Patino. Without her unconditional support none of this would’ve happened, or matter.
