We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Alexia Inhulsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Alexia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from a small town in Northeastern Colorado. There were 20 students in my graduating class and 80 in my High School. Growing up here, eyes and ears were always on you. I learned a lot about maintaining a positive reputation and holding integrity to a high standard. Sports were a big part of where I was from which gave me my competitive edge but also a willingness to put aside differences in order to achieve a common goal. I didn’t realize this until later in my career when a fellow alum pointed out how driven we were to accomplish something even when we had personal differences 🙂

What should our readers know about your business?
Peake Wellness Center is a creation out of love and respect for the human body. Started in 2010, shortly after my youngest sister was diagnosed with cancer. I thought this would be my focus but quickly found out that was too close to home. Instead, I started working on cancer before it was allowed to enter anyone’s diagnosis chart and focused on fertility. Fertility then led to pregnancy, which lead to babies. Now we are known for our expertise in women’s health and pediatrics. This focus is so much fun! Every day is different, and taking a woman through the powerful transition of motherhood is the biggest honor I can imagine. One of my first patients was a terrified 21-year-old who I reluctantly adjusted, she later told her entire labor class how much chiropractic helped and before I knew it my office was full of pregnant women!
The first two years of practice were the hardest. I practically slept at the office trying to make everything work and keep all the balls in the air. Now I have a more focused schedule that allows me the flexibility of being a mom and a chiropractor. A great staff has been the key in gaining a little freedom from the office for sure! People often think the hardest part of business is making money but for me the biggest challenge was growing a great staff.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I’m not a lot of fun I guess 😉 My favorite place to have dinner in Greeley is Lucky Fin and Cattleman’s Steak House! These places have an amazing ambiance, drinks, and of course food. For a fun Friday night out I would take a friend to 477 distillery, one of the amazing restaurants downtown, and follow up with a trip to the Speakeasy beneath the Kress (I’m not an alcoholic I promise.) For lunch we would definitely visit the Mad Cow and it wouldn’t be a friend of mine if they didn’t have a healthy addiction to Chipotle.
Really though, if it were up to me we’d spend a lot of time in my kitchen. Sipping tea made from herbs in my garden, eating sourdough that I probably made that morning, and watching the chickens in the back yard.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My kids and I call her Grammie K, but the rest of the community knows her as Kristi Helzer. She’s been like a mom to me and helped me get my footing when I first started!
